The Rocket Summer – So In This Hour… [live]

So ever since I heard that one of my favorite bands was going to be touring with my friends’ band and another new favorite band, I’ve been extremely giddy. This is one of my favorite songs, but it wasn’t a favorite of mine until I heard this version. Now, if you’re familiar with Bryce Avary, then you know that most of his songs are written about his wife. They are the sweetest couple I’ve ever heard of even though I’ve never met them in person. The second verse in this song was improvised and not featured in the original song, but it makes me swoon every time.

Bryce Avary, can you perform at my future wedding please?

My Bad

It just occurred to me that you couldn’t listen to my Spotify Song of the Days unless you had a Spotify account.

Sorry everyone! Looks like we’re back to SoundCloud.

The Wanted – Glad You Came – Alex Gaudino Radio Edit

It’s an unhealthy obsession, but it is what it is. Don’t judge me for it.

Introducing: Jet City Stream

Since the city of Seattle is currently celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the World’s Fair, everyone is getting in on the action! Jet City Stream is a new radio broadcasting company sweeping the interwebz and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Their main focus happens to be local Seattle music and as we all know, I’m all about that. Additionally, they will feature the best of Seattle music from the past and the present.

Unless my television is on, I am almost always streaming/listening to music of some sort directly from my laptop. It’s refreshing to see though that there is something out there, like Jet City Stream, focused on highlighting local music and not just mainstream radio. Jet City Stream will also offer in-studio performances and exclusive performances straight from their roof-top deck.

Well, I think I’m sold. Here are some of my favorite Seattle bands that you will be able to listen to through their stream:

  • Lemolo
  • The Head and the Heart
  • Pickwick
  • Allen Stone
  • Fly Moon Royalty

Learn more about Jet City Stream here.

I just watched three videos of The Wanted performing “Glad You Came.”

I never thought I would be caught up in this boy band One Direction vs The Wanted drama, but here I am.

…and I’m with The Wanted.

Tour Announcement

I am thrilled to announce that my friends Eric and Andrew of The Scene Aesthetic are going on tour with one of my favorite acts The Rocket Summer and my new favorite band of 2011-2012 – States!

The lineup is stacked and it’s just the three of them. Now I haven’t gone to a concert for some time now, but this is the kind of lineup that would bring me out. It truly seems like a very special event.

Check out all of the dates here.

Quadstock 2012

Welp! I’m pretty late on getting this news out, but I guess that just goes to show how little time I have for this blog right about now. Regardless, I am BEYOND thrilled to announce this year’s Quadstock lineup:

  • Mayer Hawthorne and the County
  • Schoolboy Q
  • Bearbot
  • Pickwick
  • Campfire OK
  • Br’er Sun

It has been a long time coming getting this lineup together – 10 months to be exact (but who’s counting?!) and being able to release it to our students is a huge weight off our shoulders. So far the response has been pretty great! My biggest concern with this lineup coming out was having to deal with the criticism, but I’ve secured a solution – kill ‘em with kindness!

So I’m pretty excited and I promise to give you all updates along the way especially with the final product. I especially want to make a post at some point with all of our publicity because it’s incredible and designed by my dear friend Alyssa Johnson.
