Karlie Kloss is Leaving Victoria’s Secret

Just as she was rising to the top of Victoria’s Secret stardom, Karlie Kloss is preparing to make her exit. It was reported last week that the angel is indeed walking away from all the VS modeling gigs and trading in those wings for a bunch of school books. This fall, Karlie will officially be a student at New York University! Hooray! She’s not quitting modeling for good, however, but as you might imagine, a contract with Victoria’s Secret takes up a fair amount of time. At least she’s walking away with four Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows under her belt. While at NYU, Karlie will be enrolled at Gallatin School of Individualized Study and word on the street was that former supermodel Christy Turlingtun Burns was the one who actually wrote Karlie’s letter of recommendation. Awwww. It’s hard to believe she’s just 22 because the girl seems much wiser beyond her years. We’re excited for her education and what she’ll do next!

Can I Live Like Dakota Fanning?

Dakota Fanning is a new freshman student at New York University this year and with a career like hers, there’s no way we could have ever expected her to shack up in a dorm room. Now, I loved my dorm experience. I was all about the friends and being involved for the first two years, but I was living in such a small space and sharing bathrooms with everyone on my floor. Those weren’t exactly the best perks about dorm room living. I suppose Dakota weighed her pros and cons and decided that her two bedroom / two bathroom apartment with 27-hr doorman and a sundeck was much better than on campus housing and after seeing photographs of her apartment – I think I can agree.

It’s not known if she has a roommate or not,  but I would imagine little sister Elle would sometimes crash with her. The apartment is $8,400 a month and happens to be the same building that Mr. John Mayer lives in as well. Any chance I can find an apartment like this for a price that is much less in New York City? One can only hope.

Mr. Franco the Prof

It’s no secret that James Franco is quite possibly one of the most driven actors in the business with his multiple degrees. Seriously, why won’t he stop enrolling in school? He’s making everyone in the world look bad next to him. The last time I watched him Jimmy Kimmel, he mentioned that he was currently enrolled in courses that would later on allow him to teach. Well, fan girls and fan boys, that time has finally come. James Franco will begin teaching a graduate course at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in which the max number of students allowed to enroll is 12.

“Franco also recently teamed up with Columbia College Hollywood to offer a 12-student editing class, in which students will create a half-hour documentary using footage from his film career. “Master Class: Editing James Franco…With James Franco” will be taught by Franco’s editor Tyler Danna.”

^^^ so much lawls.

Celebrities Get Schooled

Cole and Dylan Sprouse of the Disney Series The Suite Life of Zach and Cody and The Suite Life On Deck have decided to attend New York University next fall.

“Cole is sticking to entertainment and will be majoring in Television and Film Production with a minor in Drama and Dylan plans to venture into the Fine Arts with a minor in Economics!

They are 18?! Why do they still seem so young to me. If you did not watch those shows on the Disney Channel, they were also the little boys that shared the role of Julian “Frankenstein” in Big Daddy. And they’re all grown up now.

I think it’s really great that child actors that are pretty much set for life still decide to pursue higher education. It shows that they care about it and that they can juggle these two lives that don’t mesh at all. I can’t imagine how difficult that must be. Cole and Dylan aren’t the first though, many actors have done it and succeeded. For example, James Franco has attended three or four different schools and got the degrees.

I was having this conversation with my best friend recently and I posed the question: “If you had enough money to support yourself for the rest of your life, would you still attend college?” We both said yes. What would you say?

*Didn’t Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen go to NYU also? Did they ever finish?

And Wikipedia has informed me that they left partway through…

Let the beat build…

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgPlKJtWpQ8]

It’s a play off of Lil’ Wayne’s “Let the Beat Build…” but New York University student Nyle portrayed his rendition of the song that literally built off of one beat. The vocals are amazing and I love the variety of instruments and the people included in the video. The video was done in one take with the audio being recorded simultaneously with the film. I heard that it took them about forty tries or so but still can you imagine how hard that would be?

And most of all I love this song because it reminds me of late night Jack in the Box runs with my friends and Erik house.
