A House Of Windows in the Mountains in WV

For their very first date, photographer Nick Olson took designer Lilah Horwitz on a walk in the mountains of West Virginia. While chatting and getting to know each other during a particularly scenic sunset the two jokingly wondered what it would be like to live in a house where the entire facade was windows, so the sunset would never be contained within a small space. Where most people would file the idea away as a dream or maybe an item at the bottom of a bucket list, the newly minted couple were a bit more aggressive. Less than a year later the two quit their jobs and embarked on a road trip starting in Pennsylvania to collect dozens of windows from garage sales and antique dealers. A few weeks later they arrived in West Virginia and built the glass cabin in the exact same spot where they envisioned it on their first date. Whether they managed it all on their own, or took help whenever they felt necessary from professionals like window and roofing companies in Herndon VA to turn their vision into a reality it does not matter. They did it!

Now there is a true love story.

Before seeing this house, I never considered a property to have as many windows as can be seen here. I was particularly surprised to see how all of them were glazed to perfection (perhaps the owners used Secondary Glazing for Windows with Shutters). Usually, you’re just used to seeing a maximum of 10 (that too unglazed windows), and even then they are dotted around the house. I find that they just take so much work to look after. I remember one time, my friend told me that she had to replace some of her windows with the help of a company like MWT Windows because they weren’t as durable as they once were. Whilst the company did a truly amazing job, she was consumed by stress for the entire project. That was until she saw the finishing product. Her home now looks beautiful, and she has even decided to renovate the rest of her house too, so all the features can complement each other. I can’t wait to see the finished product. I think for my next renovation project I may follow in the footsteps of Olson and Horwitz.

All that is left for me to say is that I absolutely love the look of this house and can’t imagine how breathtaking the sunsets might be through the windows of their home every single day.
