2021 Grammys Red Carpet

Harry Styles in Gucci

I can’t tell if I’m being too harsh on award shows during a pandemic, but did anyone else find the Grammys to be particularly boring this year? Also, why didn’t I laugh at anything Trevor Noah said? The highlight of this show was less than a handful of performance and three outfit changes by Harry Styles.

Nike SB Dunk High in “Baroque Brown” Reminds Me of Andes Chocolate Mints

I’m told that that 2021 is the year that Dunks are making their huge comeback and this one looks promising! Nike’s SB Dunk High in “Baroque Brown” is crafted from a vegan leather build only displaying slight contrast through its laces and midsoles. Both the laces and the outsoles are in a matching forest green hue. Upon first eyeing the shoe, I was immediately brought back to a favorite childhood candy of mine – the Andes Chocolate Mint – but this is not that collaboration project.

The sneaker is available now until February at select skate shops outside of the US and in Mexico and Europe. For more details on the sneaker itself and locations to buy, visit [Hypebeast].

Nike’s Zig Zag Stitches

It’s usually the colorways that grab our attention first. This time around, it’s the unique zig zag stitching that I’m seeing for the first time ever. In a bold style, the Nike Blazer Mid is taking on a minimal, but red zig zag design in their logo. I love how clean this look is, but in its own way has some spunk to it. The shoe is currently retailing for $100 USD and will be available [online] in the next few weeks.

Bubblegum Pink

It has been more than a few years since I last bought a pair of Dunks, but these caught my eye so quick! Immediately, this took me back to summers with the ice cream truck and getting that baseball mitt ice cream in the same exact hue. As much as I wish this were inspired by my favorite ice cream, it was actually influenced by the “Pink Pig” Porsche 917/20 that debuted in 1971 at the 39th Grand Prix of Endurance.

The sneaker itself is made of suede, but detailed with red stitching. To give it a more classic feel, white and black are used for the soles. Currently, there is no official release date yet, but we can expect these will be out sometime in 2021. Don’t you just miss buying and wearing shoes out of the house?

Nike Blazer Mid ’77 in Patchwork

There was a period in my life where I thought all sneakers I owned needed to be unique in some way. If suede was not commonly used, I needed to have it. A gingham print in a high top? It’s mine. It didn’t matter if it matched with the other pieces in my closets. In some ways, that wasn’t even the point. However, as I’ve gotten older and expanded upon my collection, we opt for simple. These days, nearly everything I own is monochrome, but that doesn’t automatically make your sneakers boring.

This latest Blazer Mid ’77 silhouette is various shades of grey and print. It is anything, but simple. The clean swoosh along with the patchwork print and subtle corduroy bring texture to this shoe. In my opinion, it’s quite a sophisticated piece and naturally, we need this too. While we’ve been given a preview now, there is no official release date yet, but we should expect more news on it in the coming months.

Not Your Ordinary Colorway

Nike describes their latest Air Max Up to be a black and white iteration, but isn’t it so much more than that? Here I see white, black, light lavender, leather, and a piece that is translucent. Honestly, this colorway is something out of the future and while this isn’t my usual taste, I like it. Somehow I’m captivated by its weird clearness on the heel and the fact that the swoosh is partially done. I recently thought maybe I’d pick up running after buying a new pair of Zella leggings so athletic footwear has become top of mind again. For a pair of your very own, you can shop these on [Titolo] for a cool price of $201.30 USD.

You Can’t Stop Us | Nike

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA4dDs0T7sM

Before I got into the career I’m in today, I once considered advertising. I loved commercials like this. The idea that you could create something so original and never seen before was exciting. I can’t say for certain that I would be the brains behind that creativity exactly, but I knew it fascinated me. I can’t stop watching this because of the impeccable editing job. It also just feels so timely with everything going on in the world.

Nike Air Flight ’89 – Seattle SuperSonics Colorway

For as long as I continue to exist, I will always pray every year that the NBA will gift us with a basketball team back. Several times a year, I find myself questioning why a metropolitan city like Seattle had their basketball team ripped away from us in the first place. It makes no sense. Lucky for me, I’m not alone in this. The fact that Nike created this Air Flight ’89 in our team’s colorway tells me that brands feel this loss too. When we’ll get our team back, no one really knows. For now, our legacy can live on in this sneaker which you can now purchase from [Nike Japan] for $120 USD.

Gearing Up For Pride [Sneaker Edition]

Due to COVID-19, Pride events aren’t being held like they normally would be next month. That doesn’t mean that Pride Month isn’t being celebrated. Nike, Converse, and adidas have all released their pride-themed sneakers ahead of the month and we are big fans. I especially love this one by adidas (above) that has parts of the sneaker itself in a designated color. If you’re wanting that all-over look though, Converse (bottom right) is the look for you. And for the minimalist – we’ve got Nike (bottom left.)
