The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: What We Actually Bought

Prior to the sale, quite a few people mentioned to me that they didn’t think the selection was great. In my opinion, that’s a good thing because then you get to focus on the few gems that are there and you don’t over shop. Ahead of the sale, I also posted some of my picks and at the time, I didn’t even know if or how I would participate. This past Thursday, I was lucky to have the day off and decided to shop in-person and online. There’s a reason for that, I promise! This was my first experience shopping in stores since the pandemic and admittedly, I was a bit nervous. I’m the kind of shopper that needs to see and feel the clothes and try them on in a dressing room. Pick-up just wasn’t going to be an option. To minimize some risk, I decided to go right when the store opened. Since it was a morning weekday, it wasn’t crowded at all and I was able to maintain distance. Here’s all that we purchased… and then some!

[Zella High Waist Studio Pocket 7/8 Leggings] – Originally: $65 // Sale Price: $42.90

Even though I made several different purchases within the store that day in different departments, I had forgotten to use my $20 note! To my surprise, no one even asked me for it. I ended up buying these leggings once I got home with the note and though I didn’t try them on, I figured there’s no way I wouldn’t like them or find a use for them.

2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Halogen Wool & Cashmere Long Cardigan$199 – $132.90

If you’re from Seattle, you grew up knowing the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to be close to a national holiday. Angel and I have had this on our calendar for weeks and knew that we’d be at day one of Early Access. I wish I had known ahead of time how big today was going to be in San Francisco. Do people not work?! By the time we arrived at the mall after work at 5:30 PM so much of everything was picked over! While the Nordstrom in Westfield is fairly large and five floors, it doesn’t boast the same selection as you would have online. However, I’ve never been much of an online shopper. For me, the tough calls get made when in the dressing room.

That being said, I look forward to this sale every year. It’s my version of a pre-back to school back to fall shopping. We scoured every floor not missing a single section. At the end of it, I walked away with a tank top I wanted and saw online beforehand and a classic striped top. I thought I’d be leaving the store with more, but my bank account is grateful that I didn’t. That being said, here are some of my favorite picks from the sale!

BP Heath Bootie$109.95 – $69.90

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Treasure & Bond Print Pleated Top$59 – $38.90

With everything going on these days, I nearly forgot that this sale was about to happen! Thank goodness for my girlfriends and our group text to remind me of the first day for early access. I’m trying my hardest to save my money during my time off right now so it doesn’t make sense to make purchases on things that I don’t need, but the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has always been perfect for the staples you do need. Around this time, I usually consider the items I’m hoping to make a purchase on for fall or items that I already own that could use an upgrade. Previously, those items have been a pair of classic black heels, booties,  a wallet, and a purse – all of which I have purchased during this annual sale.

Ashley and I stopped by during Early Access this past weekend and while it was thrilling to see the pieces out, there wasn’t anything that I truly needed. That doesn’t mean though that I don’t have a list of things that would be “nice-to-have” and that’s what I’m going to share with you now!

Update: Now that I’ve finished working on this post, I’m convinced I need all of these items. Send help?

Proud Owner: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Saturdays are great days for shopping trips. When I was living in Seattle, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was a BIG deal and the only Nordstrom that you needed to shop at was obviously the Flagship. Since I’m not a Nordstrom credit card holder (really need to be!) I had to wait until their sale was open to the public. So to prepare, I marked this on my calendar and was out of bed by 9:30 AM this morning to get ready for the big event. I wasn’t alone. The parking lot was already packed by the time I got there at 11. Luckily, I came in with an agenda and knew what I already wanted, but not before I took a stroll to TopShop, TBD, and Savvy just to cover all my bases.

I was in desperate need of a new wallet (I was using a hand-me-down from my mother) and a new everyday black purse (my last one from Azalea broke!) so I was very happy today when I walked away with a perfectly sized Kate Spade wallet and a Vince Camuto purse. I almost bought the matching Kate Spade purse with the wallet, but then I thought, I don’t really want to double match. I was also worried that the Vince Camuto purse was too chunky, but  I really liked that it had one main zipped up compartment and two on the side that could button up in case I needed to store more things. Better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks Nordstrom for giving me more everyday essentials to add to my collection!

I’m very fortunate to have had Ashley and Nadia save me by having the Nordstrom card and giving me early access to the Nordstrom sale this year, but who knows if I’ll have that special treatment next year. Looks like it’s time to apply for my own card 🙂

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Happy Anniversary Nordstrom! I cannot wait to celebrate with you. The Nordstrom anniversary sale has always been a tradition for my mother and I since I could remember. As a kidlet, I would tag along with her, but I was just too young to actually pick out clothes for myself slash be all that interested in it. However, now in my 20’s – I look forward to it because the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale means the beginning of my school clothes shopping. Being a college student makes it difficult to sometimes buy clothes at its original price. Luckily, I get by with my popular thrifting neighborhood, but sometimes I need a change. The Nordstrom sale is my chance to splurge a little while not feeling so guilty because after all – it is a sale!

I didn’t get the catalog this year, but thanks to technology, I can peruse the catalog online at their website here and start making my wish list! Here are just a few of my favorites that I will be keeping my eye on starting Friday, July 15th when the sale officially begins.

Tory Burch ‘Aaden’ Tall Boot

Sale: $299.90 After Sale: $495

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Parfum Pour – (6.8 oz) [Nordstrom Exclusive]

Sale: $199 After Sale: $225

Zella ‘Live-in’ Leggings

Sale: $33.90 After Sale: $52

There are many more items that are featured in the catalog that are not featured on the website because some brands release items specifically for this sale so that means you just need to get yourself to Nordstrom next Friday!
