Oreo’s Lastest Flavors: Peach Oolong and Sakura Matcha

Anybody else noticing their cookie intake just skyrocket during this time? I have always had an affection for sweets, but quarantine times have definitely made me more vulnerable. Oreo is launching two new flavors that I think are going to be major hits especially for the boba crowd. With a Japanese flair, Peach Oolong and Sakura Matcha are two flavors to expect this summer. The peach (pictured above) will have the peach colored filling in between your two standard Oreo cookies. However, the Sakura Matcha will have a green matcha filling sandwiched between two pink biscuit cookies. These flavors are available starting now in Hong Kong and will run until May 1st.

Oreo Unveils Tiramisu Flavor

photo cred | Mandel Ngan

Growing up, I didn’t need complicated desserts to satisfy a sweet tooth. Hand me a package of Oreos, Nilla Wafers, or bake me a cake from a boxed mix and I would be good to go. It has been fascinating to see years later though that there are so many different flavors being released by Oreo. In their latest development, they are merging my classic favorite dessert with one that I love ordering out: tiramisu! Known for its layers, Oreo will attempt to replicated that with two layers of creme instead of one. We can expect these to hit shelves this coming April!

Oreo Wonder Vault

Back in February, Oreo partnered with Weber Shandwick along with Iontank, 360i, The Martin Agency, and Carat to bring to New York City locals the Oreo Wonder Vault! I wish Mandi and I would’ve known about this while we were there because I definitely would’ve put this on our list of things to see, but from the articles that I’ve been reading about it, it seems as if it might’ve been in commission for just one day! So what’s behind the mysterious door you ask? Well, behind the door, passerbys had access to new Oreo flavors that they could’ve picked up six days before the actual release. Apparently, it was the Filled Cupcake Oreo. Yum!

Oreo provided some additional facts about the wondrous “vault”:• As many as 50 prototype flavors and more than 100 additional ideas can be in the Wonder Vault at any time.

• Usually 12-18 months of creation, including monthly tastings, get us to the perfect, delicious flavor but some flavors spend years in the Vault before they are ready for release.
• We make our initial prototypes by hand. Once we feel confident in the flavor, we create a batch in our bakery and the process goes from there with taste tests along the way.
• We try every flavor of crème coming out of the vault on both chocolate and golden cookies to get to the just-right combination, and we are always experimenting with new ideas to make sure we deliver the most delicious treat possible.
• The limited edition process never stops; we have lots of flavor ideas just waiting to make their way to the world.

We’re not sure if the vault is still working or available, but can someone in New York go check for us?! It’s on 18th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Please and thank you!

Currently Snacking:

oreo thin

I learned a few weeks ago that my favorite childhood cookie was releasing a new kind of cookie… the OREO THIN! Unfortunately, I missed the boat where I could receive a free sampling of it and instead had to wait for it to arrive in stores. Well, I waited…and waited…and waited… Three weeks had passed and they still weren’t on the shelves of my local Safeway. Trust me – I checked. Just when I had thought about giving up on the whole thing entirely, there it was… I had to buy a pack. I wanted to buy two, but I exercised self control. Since, it’s not all that cool to finish an entire package of Oreo’s by yourself anymore, I decided to bring it in for my coworkers, but not before sending out this email to them:

I’ve been hunting down Oreo Thins at the grocery store for several weeks now since they have been released. Just this weekend, they finally arrived at my Safeway.

I brought them in for people to try!! They are as thin as a pencil! Less calories! Super cute and adorable!
!!!
Gone within 45 minutes.
