A Touch of Gold

IMG_3027

Black dress – Aritzia / Black boots – borrowed from my mom / Gold wallet – Urban Outfitters

While on that “pop of color” train last week, I decided to make the modern little black dress something that was wearable in the day time. We were also in the middle of the NBA Finals that week too so I had to bring in the gold with one of my previously loved wallets. I’m no longer using this anymore because I’ve downgraded to a much smaller purse so it doesn’t fit, but I keep it around because you never know when it might be put to good use – like as a prop in a photo! We’re starting to even run out of back drops for these photos, but I feel like I saved this one for a very special reason. I just love the pink and green together. Everything just works so well!

Channeling Witchy Vibes

Black t-shirt dress / Aritzia

I know what you’re thinking… doesn’t this look familiar? I actually just posted about this dress two days ago because I just bought it and I’m already in love. Honestly though, every time I buy new clothes, I can’t help but wear it the next day. I still remember going shopping for new clothes right before school started and every year having to leave them in my closet without wearing them until the first week was absolute torture. I understand why we waited back then because I could have easily gotten a stain or made a rip or tear, but it’s funny how when you’re an adult, that stuff doesn’t matter. Nothing a Tide-to-go can’t fix, right? I love this dress and can’t wait to wear it forever and forever. My co-workers are developing a sense of humor these days and pointing out to me every time they see me wearing all black. I guess when you do it two days in a row, it becomes your thing.

Work From SF

Dress – Aritzia / Denim shirt – Madewell / Black boots – borrowed from mom years ago!

The other day we had the opportunity to work from the city instead of our office in South Bay – an opportunity I always take when I have the chance! It’s actually such a great perk from the company because we get to rent an Airbnb for the day, have breakfast and lunch and then celebrate with drinks after. We were all working pretty diligently in The Mission that day, but Alberto and I snuck out for a mini photo break to capture our latest OOTD.

Greenery

Knit sweater – Brandy Melville / Black leggings – Aritizia

I was told this week that it was going to be pretty rainy so I bundled up and the sun came out! Usually in Seattle when the weather forecast says that it’s going to rain, it ends up being a torrential downpour. Luckily for me, I’ve gotten used to wearing layers and even wearing this outfit on a warm day wasn’t the worst thing in the world. Leah and I have been searching for better backdrops in the neighborhood and we didn’t have to walk too far to find this gem!

Dem Pants

Black Sleeveless Blouse – Madewell / Pants – Urban Outfitters / Black Heels – Vince Camuto via Nordstrom

I used to feel a little bit nervous wearing these hot pink pants out, but happy to say nearly five years later, I’m wearing them with a lot more confidence! They’re also made of silk so that pretty much makes them the most comfortable pants ever. In so many ways, this outfit is kind of a throwback. For one. The pants. Secondly, I went through a phase in middle school where hot pink and black were my favorite colors and I only purchased items that were in these color families. I used to wear these pants maybe once a year, but I’ve busted them out more often lately and why not? I got these for $20 bucks on sale at Urban way back when!

I Got Hops

Chambray shirt – Madewell / Skirt – H&M / Scarf – Aritzia / Booties – Munro via Nordstrom

It turned out to be pretty gray today so we bundled up! This is actually kind of a drastic change from the all white outfit I wore just a couple of days ago when it was completely sunny. We decided to have a little bit more fun with this post though so Leah captured a photograph of me getting some air! Surprisingly, we only needed just 4 takes to get this! Having grown up in Seattle, I never really realized how much of a damper (pun intended) the weather can have on our overall health and wellbeing. Even though it rained just a little bit today, I found myself feeling more tired and at one point even a little sick. Turns out a few of my co-workers shared the same sentiments as well. Maybe it’s all in my head or maybe it’s just what the weather does to us all. Whatever the case, I’m really glad I got to feel like I was skipping ahead to fall today!

White and Gold

Top – Aritzia / Belt – Madewell / Skirt – Urban Outfitters / Wedges – DV by Dolce Vita

We rarely ever do OOTD posts and when we did do them, I was wearing a space helmet! RIP Space Girl and Space Street Style. I still get super self-conscious when we do photos like this these days, but it totally helps to have great co-workers who also double up as photographers! Caught: a laughing me in the wild with the new S’mores Frappuccino from Starbucks (more on that later!) I actually bought this skirt almost immediately after I came out of my SoulCycle workout on Monday night since Urban Outfitters was next door. And because I deserved it after that session! It was between this and a white lace romper, but this one is much more versatile and a perfect fit with the rest of my wardrobe. I was also hesitant to be wearing an all white outfit since I’d never done it before, but have always wanted to and a little hint of gold goes a long way.

Gastown Walking

Beanie – Wilfred // Coat – Topshop by Nordstrom // Leggings – Aritzia // Boots – Hunter // Scarf – borrowed from Mom

Remember the days when I was just too self-conscious to be posting photos of my outfit that we used a space helmet to make things a little bit easier? I’ve learned that when you’re traveling for work, it’s importnat to set aside time for yourself on your trips where you do things that are just for you. Taking advantage of being home in Seattle very recently, I decided to take a trip with my family up to Vancouver so that we could do a little eating and a whole lot of shopping. This was something that Kevin and I used to do when we were younger – taking day trips up to visit our favorite boutiques. Naturally, it was pouring and made for the most unpleasant experience. Shopping in the rain is the worst, but I’m glad I was able to return home with a few new pieces that I love.

Peacock Tree Farm, Los Gatos

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

{Gray long sleeve tee: Sway and Cake (Seattle boutique)}
{Open cardigan: Brandy Melville}
{Olive jacket: Aritzia}
{Cream scarf: Hollister Co.}
{Black leggings: Aritzia}
{Glasses: Warby Parker}
{Cross-body bag: Urban Outfitters}
{Boots: Steve Madden}

If someone were to ask me what my standard everyday outfit would be, this would probably be it. Seattle raised me well, you guys. Check out those layers and that Starbucks red cup. Actually every time, we post an outfit post, I feel like I have a funny story about several of the pieces. First off, I’ve had these Steve Madden boots since college and the heels are not completely falling apart, but on its way there. The heels have been worn down, but not evenly so when I walk I feel like I am lopsided. I’ve had this Hollister scarf since middle school and to this day, I still consider it a regular staple. Bree needed a Christmas tree for the holidays so I tagged along to help her catch the tree when she “sawed the bitch down.” (Her words not mine) The Christmas tree farm is no joke. There’s so many. It’s in the middle of nowhere and it’s freezing out there. I suppose I was also there to act as a ruler as she wanted one that was just around my height.
