I hope you are all having a lovely start to your Saturday! My own personal winter break is just around the corner and with that I’ve gotta take a little break from Yow Yow. Now, I know I always say that I never take breaks and that missing one day is detrimental to all of the news that will be going on, but this blogger needs some quality time away from the work. You may see occasional posts from me on the following days, but you may not so I just want to set that expectation right off the bat!
Christmas Eve and Christmas – I will be off and from the 29th to January 1st I will be off adventuring! And all those days in between – posts will be sparse.
This morning, Pinterest launched “30 Days of Pinspiration” featuring pinners, non-profits, and brands sharing what inspiration means to them and more importantly – they are sharing their boards w/ us! It’s not like we couldn’t see them before, but now it’s being brought to the forefront and I sort of like that. The first guest was Katie Couric. Is there anyone else more inspiring?
Hey y’all! It was a very exciting day for Pinterest today as they just allowed businesses and bloggers to be officially connected to their Pinterest accounts. It’s kind of like how Twitter has verified accounts for celebrities, but since I’m not a a celebrity myself and just a blogger – this is sort of the same thing in my world. It was a challenging process, but Kevin and I made it through. That little check mark means that this Pinterest account and my blog are both managed by me!
To celebrate, I did a little bit of a re-organization on my boards and created four new ones!
Just in time for the holiday season, Pinterest is unveiling their new feature: Secret Pinterest boards! It is perfect for saving potential gifts especially if you don’t want anyone else to see what you might get them. Each user will be allowed to have three “secret” boards that will be remain hidden.
“We hope that secret boards will make Pinterest even more useful,” Pinterest software engineer Evrhet Milam wrote. “You can use secret boards to keep track of holiday gifts, plan a special event, or work on a project you aren’t yet ready to share with the rest of the world.”
Unfortunately, you can only make your new boards secret and none of your previously created ones hidden since there is a chance that some of your pins have already been re-pinned.
We had an agreement about the terms and surprisingly it turned out to be a really great idea. This time around, I was in charge of the meal and he was responsible for the dessert and the movie choice as long as it was a chick flick. Next time he’ll make the meal and I’ll be the one to provide the sweet treats and an action flick. Hi. Compromising.
I have to admit, I’ve been a little rusty in the kitchen recently having not made any meals for myself consistently for the past five months. I realize that this is a problem, but I promise it will be changing soon and I’ll be able to share all of my new recipes with you. I chose to make a mushroom cream sauce with bow tie pasta because it was easy, but also because I’d never tried it before. It was my first Pinterest recipe! For the vegetable dish, I decided to make caprese skewers. Samantha’s mother convinced me that it was the simplest thing to make for any meal or dinner party during my cooking lesson with her three years ago.
I don’t have any pictures for you that I took myself because I’m not exactly sure if they “looked” that good, but I promise you they didn’t taste that bad. I think I’m just in need of more practice. If you’re looking to try something new, here they are!
Today the website announced that they are now completely open to the public! That means you don’t have to sign up to be invited anymore, you can just make an account if you please!

Have you guys seen the new Pinterest layout yet? This morning, Pinterest unveiled their new look and I think it’s a definite upgrade. The presentation of it is much more laid out and I like that it differs from your actual home page where you can view the pins of people you follow. It’s nice to have that separation.

With all this buzz swarming around Pinterest now for the past couple of months, I’ve been wondering what the guys have been up to. Are they feeling jealous? Left out because they don’t have a site like Pinterest for them? Well luckily, somebody recognized this need and is trying to get a site called “MANteresting” going for the men who want to pin and have boards just like everyone else.
I think it’s the tag line that gets me the most.
“MANteresting – Interesting. Man. Things.”
Men, what are you waiting for? Get pinning! Get inspired!
Like an image you see on Yow Yow? You can now use the Pinterest button on posts to save pictures directly to your boards. Look for the little icon right in between the Facebook and Tumblr buttons!
Also, if you aren’t following me on Pinterest yet, feel free to do so here.
We’ve jumped on the band wagon! Some of my close girlfriends have been asking me for awhile now if I had a Pinterest account and I’ll admit that at first I kind of dismissed it like I did with Tumblr, but I think what really reeled me into Pinterest though was its exclusivity; plus some of my favorite bloggers have accounts too.
I’ll be updating my boards once a week and these will not take away from the “A Collection” posts, which are mainly supported by Tumblr pages. Everything you find on my Pinterest will be completely separate from that.
