Kerry Washington in Prada
I may have missed the entire show from being at work and out to dinner, but we’d never miss a chance of covering the red carpet.
I can’t believe it’s time already for the most fashionable night of the year! It’s crazy to think that a year has already gone by. I feel like I was making the 2013 post just last month. This year’s theme is White Tie and Decorations.
Of course we’re kicking things off with Queen Bey and Jay.
Beyonce and Jay-Z both in Givenchy Haute Couture
Lupita Nyong’o, in Prada
The red carpet was packed with actors and actresses meant for the best dressed list. We’ve reached the end of the Award Show season (I think) and this was probably the best way to close it out. Lupita has pretty much hit it out of the park for every award show. That alone, should earn her an award.
Who: Kiernan Shipka
Where: ELLE’s Annual Women in Television Celebration
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture
YES, this is the dress that I would have loved to see Jennifer in at the Golden Globes, but better late than never. We all know that Jennifer is partial to Dior so it’s a no-brainer, but the slim fit and dark color is doing wonders for her on the red carpet. We’re pretty happy with this pick.
Rose Byrne in Custom Calvin Klein Collection
I wasn’t that into the Emmy’s this year for some reason and that could’ve been for a few reasons:
Typically when we cover award shows, we generally just stick to the fashion and that’s exactly what we’re going to do again. But here are the winners in case you are wondering – – via Refinery29
Rose Byrne’s gown was easily one of my favorites from the entire evening!
Word on the street is that our favorite fashion art installation is about to get shut down. We hope that this isn’t true, but several fingers point to yes. We’ve blogged about the Prada located in Marfa, Texas before as its own post or either as part of A Collection and while we’ve never had a chance to visit it in person, we like the fact that something like this even exists. According to Texas officials, the installation is violating a state highway and beautification laws.
The piece has been a tourist hot spot since 2005 even attracting Beyonce to come visit it.
…a 15-foot-by-25-foot adobe building in the Chihuahuan desert, 35 miles northwest of Marfa. It contains six bags (without bottoms, to discourage theft) and 20 shoes (the rights only, for the same reason). This store is so exclusive that its door is always locked.
For more information and history on the fake Prada store and what is happening to it, read about it here.
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture
- Lawrence is a Dior girl through and through. Now being the face for the brand, we sure can expect her to be wearing it a lot more than she has already.
[Readers! I’m sorry I missed the live Twitter feed for the red carpet today. I hear this year’s stars were on point with their looks. Unfortunately, I had to attend to some personal matters and that was much more important than blogging today. Thanks for your understanding!]
Charlize Theron in Dior completely gets Yow Yow’s stamp of approval for being the best dressed on the red carpet last night. There was a whole lot of cream and ivory, but gosh the simplicity and elegance of this gown made me melt. The headband was also what sealed the deal for me.
The shows of Fall 2012 Menswear have officially begun! Women, are you keeping up? Men, are you taking notes? If not, you probably should be – at least put in a little bit of effort maybe! Jokes. But seriously. If any of you were able to catch the photos from Prada’s show, you may have noticed a few familiar faces. Along with the models, Miuccia Prada hired on some well-known actors to strut their stuff down the cat walk. And they look pretty good! If by some chance, acting doesn’t work out for them, they may have another career to fall back on. That probably won’t happen though since they are already pretty established.
