Cover of the Day

I feel so lucky to have some incredible individuals in my life. While I was at Seattle University, it seemed like every one of my friends had their own side project and in a small community like Seattle University, we’ve always been supportive of each other. Readers, I’ve shared with you my friend Maddie Cary a couple of times. She’s a talented singer who has even written a couple guests posts on her for Yow Yow! She is currently recording covers on her PureVolume page for a Top 40 project and sure enough she chose to cover my favorite…

Can you guess it?

Stay!

Check out her cover of it here and the rest of her covers.

Yow Yow supports local music and friends

My friends from the local band The Scene Aesthetic were taking a mini break earlier this year from the spotlight, but that doesn’t mean they stopped working. Their break still consisted of working on their next album, writing, and recording new songs. Now, they’re back in full force so I thought I would share everything that they are doing for the next couple of months.

This week they released their first single “Never Gonna Let This Go” off their new album “Brother,” which will come out late this summer. The song can be streamed on their Facebook and Purevolume. If you’re really into the song, you can purchase it off iTunes.

Next, they are leaving in just a couple of days for their tour on the East Coast w/ Forever the Sickest Kids.

They are awfully sweet and such talented musicians and I am so glad that I have gotten to know them in these past five years. If you’re not doing anything on those dates, take yourself out to their show. You won’t regret it 🙂 They’ve been working very hard and have a lot of plans… maybe surprises? for these shows to come.

Asia Whiteacre – Follow Me Down

You can listen to the song here

I’ve got an unhealthy guilty pleasure for The City, which is where I first heard this song.

PureVolume’s Top 20 Unsigned Bands of 2009

In my scene days, I spent most of my time perusing music websites like PureVolume instead of the fashion blogs and news sites I look at now. PureVolume was like the first Myspace music page and it exposed many unsigned bands, independent bands and mainstream bands to the world. Every Seattle band I was listening to at that time had a PureVolume page before MySpace. I haven’t been on this site in quite some time, but they have compiled a list of their top 20 unsigned bands for 2009 sure to make it big within the next year. If you’re looking for new music, you also get a free download for each band!

YEAH HE IS WE for being #1!
