Recent College Grads Equipped With Advice
I noticed a slight trend today of articles posted on LinkedIn and all of them had to do with advice recent grads should take. Now in my last post, I discussed that advice should not always be taken in at once. For one, it’s too much information. Two, it’s not always applicable, but it will be when the “timing is right.” I can’t even begin to tell you how much I hate saying that last part and how much it has been said to me in the last few months, but in this moment right now, nothing seemed more fitting.
Whether it was a trend on LinkedIn or the fact that my talk is coming up and I am trying to solidify my material, every article I read today on this subject was beneficial. I wish that I had this advice when I came out of college. Would I have taken it as seriously? Probably not. That’s the problem that my professor who’s class I am speaking to posed to me as a problem. Even though I would have this advice to give to these students, they may not see the value because they haven’t had the year of working experience that I have just had. Regardless, I do hope that my advice will spark something – a change, an opinion, or inspiration.
Here are the articles and posts that I read today:

Vivienne Westwood x Virgin Atlantic
Designer Vivienne Westwood is bringing her creativity to the new uniforms that the Virgin Atlantic crew will be donning. Above is just a snippet of what we may find – the airline’s signature red, but the designer’s famous cut and folds. So how did this partnership come to be? Apparently Vivienne and Westwood and Richard Branson are old pals. Sort of. Back when Branson was well into the music scene, he signed Malcolm McLaren’s (Vivienne’s old flame) band, The Sex Pistols, to his record label. The collection will debut on the runway this coming July.

Virgin America – The Matchmaker
It’s no secret that flying on Virgin America is what we call a good decision. Everything that you can do on your flight makes traveling go by so much faster! With music, food, movies, chatting from seat-to-seat, Richard Branson is now tapping into another hot market. Dating. For the past couple of weeks, we’ve been talking about how difficult it can be to date these days, but would you believe that many people actually…meet on flights? Everything starts with a good conversation and Branson knows that. A new feature that you can find on Virgin America flights is the ability for passengers to send each other anonymous drinks, snacks, and meals…because nothing says ‘I’m into you’ more than filling a person’s stomach! If that isn’t obvious enough, you can also send a passenger a pretty blunt text about your feelings. That’s a little too much for us, but to each his/her own.
