Kerry Washington in Prada
I may have missed the entire show from being at work and out to dinner, but we’d never miss a chance of covering the red carpet.
Lupita Nyong’o, in Prada
The red carpet was packed with actors and actresses meant for the best dressed list. We’ve reached the end of the Award Show season (I think) and this was probably the best way to close it out. Lupita has pretty much hit it out of the park for every award show. That alone, should earn her an award.
Between Miley’s public appearances and award show performances, I don’t think anyone is shocked about what kinds of antics will be seen during her upcoming “Bangerz” tour. The surprise value will be there and how much clothing she would be wearing was always in question until now. It was revealed earlier this week that Miley’s costumes for her tour will be designed by Roberto Cavalli. Known for the glitz, glamour, sparkles, and sexiness, we probably couldn’t think of anyone better for the job and for Miley’s current persona. The six sketches above are just a taste at what fans will be getting when they see her live and to be honest, we’re kind of a fan. The first look on the very left is almost paying homage to Britney Spears’ “Toxic” music video, isn’t it? I’m a huge fan of all six looks and find them to be very much her style.
Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera and Amy Poehler in custom Stella McCartney
Happy Monday readers! Yesterday brought out some of the best in red carpet wear and along with that…some of the worse. We’re kicking off this red carpet post, however, with the best hosts this show has ever seen. Luckily for us, we get them for another year!
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture
- Lawrence is a Dior girl through and through. Now being the face for the brand, we sure can expect her to be wearing it a lot more than she has already.
[Readers! I’m sorry I missed the live Twitter feed for the red carpet today. I hear this year’s stars were on point with their looks. Unfortunately, I had to attend to some personal matters and that was much more important than blogging today. Thanks for your understanding!]
[Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture]
I absolutely love this gown on her. It’s so refreshing to see her not wearing black for once since most of her press outfits and even gowns on the red carpet recently have been black.
I spent most of the day watching the red carpet special for the Academy Awards yesterday as E! decided to start it around one if not sooner. Unfortunately, thirty minutes into the show, I decided to give up on watching it to spend my time with some great company. It’s alright – the red carpet is usually the main priority for me…that was until Ashley sent me a text that said, “We could have easily made tonight a drinking game,” which meant that I was missing a whole lot of highlights from the show.
I suppose I can just read about the rest of the stuff that happened during the show. I did, however, witness Sacha Baron Cohen as the Dictator dump Bisquick all over Ryan Seacrest’s Burberry suit. Just watching him trying to contain his anger over the situation was entertaining enough.
And with that, let’s get into some red carpet looks!
Charlize Theron in Dior completely gets Yow Yow’s stamp of approval for being the best dressed on the red carpet last night. There was a whole lot of cream and ivory, but gosh the simplicity and elegance of this gown made me melt. The headband was also what sealed the deal for me.
Taylor Swift was the woman of the evening last night taking home three American Music Awards including the coveted Artist of the Year. She wore a Reem Acra gown that was stunning, but why do I feel like I’ve seen her wear this gown three times before? Regardless, I think she’s great and I totally had a fan girl moment last night when she won her awards and appeared on 60 Minutes.
