No, Jeff Renner. I am rejecting what you said about the weather today and the fact that you think the rain will come in this mid-afternoon.
I am going to continue wearing my dress and that’s that.

To help raise money for the Seattle Community Law Center, the city’s favorite fundraising music festival, Noise For The Needy, will host a lineup of shows in June. The Seattle Community Law Center is “”a legal aid nonprofit that helps low-income people with disabilitied receive social security benefits.” This year, the lineup with include former Quadstock band, The Thermals, The Duke Spirit and many other local bands that we adore. Last year’s festival alone raised $23,000. It’s so nice to see the city incorporating music in order to do good. Check out the full lineup here. Will any of you be stopping at any shows this year?

I was absolutely thrilled when I learned that Konstantin Dimopoulos would be painting the trees of Westlake Park in Seattle blue. The act of painting these trees were done for the purpose of raising awareness for the 32 million acres of forests cut down every year. This is also the first time that I have ever been able to witness a design project already featured on my blog beforehand. The trees are gorgeous in person so if you have the chance, go check it out!

Australian artist Konstantin Dimopoulos has been painting the town in several cities by painting the trunks and limbs of trees using environmentally safe pigments. By working in only urban areas, Dimopoulos hopes to raise awareness for the 32 million acres of forests that are being cut down every year around the world.
Painted trees can currently be found in Melbourne, Vancouver, and Virginia. Next on the stop? Seattle!
Locals, keep your eyes peeled and let me know when you find one!

Would you believe that I have never ever been on a Ferris Wheel in my entire life? I think they are some of the most wondrous inventions I have ever seen, but yet I’ve never actually taken the plunge to get on the ride and see what it was all about. Since Seattle Center is renovating their grounds and have removed the Fun Forest pretty much, I took that as a sign that they would be getting rid of the Ferris Wheel too. Imagine my surprise today when I discovered that construction has begun for the new Ferris Wheel on the waterfront located on Pier 57. The above photograph is a proposed rendition of the Ferris Wheel.
The Ferris Wheel will be 175 ft tall and should be finished by June.
OH. MY. GOODNESS.
The wheel will have 42 gondolas that will be fully enclosed and air conditioned. One VIP gondola will also feature a glass bottom, giving riders a view beneath them.
I could cry tears of joy right about now.

Happy Tuesday everyone! Since I’m feeling a little bit generous, here’s a bonus song for your day today and guess what? I selected this as a Song of the Day just over three weeks ago too!
No, but seriously? I love this song. Lately, I’ve been immersing myself into this new music genre I like to call “Dream Pop.” On a spectrum of indie/little-known to mainstream, Ellie Goulding would ere on the mainstream side. The dream pop genre typically has female leads. It’s the kind of music you want to listen to before you go to sleep or if you’re trying to channel the Seattle University student, you might listen to dream pop as you reflect. Whether you’re feeling inspired, calm, or at peace, dream pop will kind of be like your best friend. The lyrics always know the right thing to say and you’re not likely to whirl wind into a fit of rage after listening to it. When I listen to dream pop, I like to imagine that people envision clouds and goals being achieved. Who wouldn’t like a genre that makes you feel like you can do anything and that anything is possible?
[EDIT: After 1AM, I cannot control the statements that I write on this page.]
I actually went to a show this past weekend for Lemolo featuring two lovely ladies from Seattle and front women of the genre. I did my best to film several videos, but I wasn’t happy with the end result so you won’t be seeing them on the blog, unfortunately. However, you get this video above of Yuna – Live Your Life and that should do it!

Being a student at Seattle University has opened my eyes to new opportunities. It has instilled in me reaffirmed values and perspectives. It has allowed me to reflect both independently and within groups.
We’re gonna save that for another time though because one takeaway that I have from Seattle University is being able to share highs and lows. My peers know what’s up, but for those of you who don’t know – high and low is a little game (not really) in which everyone in a group goes around the circle to share their high and low of the day.
Today, my high happened right after my low. It was within a span of 12 minutes.
Low: The girls and I ventured over to Regent Bakery & Cafe for dinner this evening. I ordered the BBQ Pork Chow Mein once again. (respective apologies to my mother for eating out once again, to my father – you know I would never leave leftovers behind, and to Ashley for eating there again…without you) After the check was all paid and we started to head home, I realized four blocks later that I left my take out box on the table. Nearly full – could have lasted me all week as leftovers. It took a great deal of strength to hold those tears in. Tori tells me that this probably wasn’t the first time for me (it wasn’t) and that it probably won’t be the last.
High: I came home to two new catalogs from Free People and Anthropologie.
Reflection: After writing my low and high, I realize now that my low is very low and that my high is nowhere near in comparison. Forever starving…
Over spring break, Samantha informed me of a website that she keeps tabs on pretty often that focuses mainly on cultural news and events in San Francisco. Just recently, she let slip to me that they have also branched off into a Seattle division as well. 7×7 SEA details what’s going on in the city, highlights an events calendar, and features guides to certain topics. My new favorite this morning? The 7 Best Neighborhoods in Seattle. And why is it on my radar? Because Capitol Hill was named the neighborhood with the Best Eats! That couldn’t be more true.
I’m happy to announce (but also stressed) that 7×7 SEA has now been added to my daily blog roll along with a couple of other websites that I peruse on the daily for my Seattle news including The Stranger blogs, Capitol Hill Seattle, and Seattle Met Blogs.
Welcome to the gang y’all!
It wouldn’t be a birthday celebration unless I celebrated twice. I had a ball in San Francisco, but of course nothing beats having a birthday in Seattle with some of my friends from school. Yesterday my dear friend Stephanie and I treated ourselves to a Chinese feast at Regent Cafe & Bakery – a new eatery that just opened up on 14th and Pine. Now, we thought our appetites were large yesterday afternoon, but clearly not enough to put away the four dishes that we ordered.
Pictured are:
Needless to say, Steph and I quickly fell into a heavy food coma. If we weren’t on a time crunch, I’m sure the both of us could have sat there forever lounging and taking our time with our dishes. My usual qualm with Chinese food is that it can sometimes be too greasy or oily, but not this time. The chow mein was littered with fresh vegetables and the noodles (even eaten as leftovers today) are still as fresh as they were yesterday. Also, I’d like to extend a thank you to Regent for bringing out a complimentary cream puff from their bakery selection with a lit candle! You guys are wonderful and I’ll most likely be back next week.

Happy spring readers! We’re long overdue for a Collection post so I thought I would leave you with one before I embark on the rest of my spring break venturing for the week. It’s definitely shorter than usual, but still packed with pretty pictures. I wanted to kick off this collection post with a comic from one of my favorite sites, A Softer World. Together, they are the perfect combination of beautiful photography and witty thoughts.
Enjoy!

Since I missed the premiere of The Fashion Star earlier this week, I decided to spend my St. Patrick’s Day night in watching the rerun. I generally don’t like to adopt new shows in the middle of a season especially since I’ve got a full lineup already, but c’mon, it’s Nicole Richie! I also wasn’t sure if NBC could bring back another fashion series to their network after parting with Project Runway, but The Fashion Star definitely has a fighting chance.

How the show works:
Aspiring fashion designers compete weekly to produce one featured item in three different looks. They are mentored by Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos, and Nicole Richie, but at the end of the day it is up to the three buyers from Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and H&M to decide what is wearable for consumers. If the buyers decide to make an offer on a designer’s item, they will then make it available for sale that same night after the show airs. It’s actually a pretty cool concept and interesting to hear the insight from the buyers on trying to make an item marketable. When contestants don’t receive an offer, they are at risk of being eliminated and out of the running for the grand prize.
Every season, I love seeing the different runway looks, but I understand that what’s on the runway for the most part is a trend and will be filtered down to become more wearable for retailers. *Remember that scene from The Devil Wears Prada when Miranda schools Andy on her ordinary blue sweater? It’s incredibly refreshing to see a look that is bypassing all of the bells and whistles and being much more straight to the point. I think I’m also becoming a fast fan of the show because it is very business-minded and hello! we’ve got two Seattle contestants!
Lisa Vian Hunter and Lizzie Parker – we’re rooting for you!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!
On our way to Yogurtland today, Anna and I walked pass the new gelato shop, D’Ambrosio Gelato, set to open their doors starting tomorrow at 5PM! I believe it’s just a soft opening for now, but that’s no reason to not visit it. Like a little kid, I put both my hands up ready to press them up against the glass when I saw the interior of the shop completely finished. I actually thought it was open at first until…I noticed that no one was inside and there was no gelato.
It’s cool – it’s all happening tomorrow. No worries. The shop is on 12th and Pine just right up the street from Molly Moon’s!
- dun – dun – dun!
