Sex and the City 3 Gets A Green Light

nintchdbpict0001753926061

It’s official! The Sex and the City cast has signed on for a third movie in the series and the four women will return. At this point, the script has been approved by the women and filming will begin this summer in order for the film to be released in 2018.

Readers, I haven’t even seen the 2nd one yet! Is it worth watching? Also, how do we feel about there being a 3rd installment? Are we ready for another one or was it time to close the book on this one entirely?

The Carrie Skirt

photo cred | NY Post

There are very few outfits featured on Sex and the City that I would care to ever emulate. Carrie, in particular, just doesn’t cut it the way that Charlotte does.  I did, however, swoon for her skirt featured in the opening of every single episode. I was amazed by how quickly she popularized the tutu, but it’s not just any tutu. It doesn’t mean that Carrie has any aspirations to be a ballerina or to live out a childhood dream. Instead, it symbolizes the idea that even when you’re an adult you can still be a little childish.

So where did this skirt come from? We know that Patricia Field is responsible for the wardrobe of the former hit series, but what designer did it come from?

There’s a Rumor Going Around…

that Sex and the City will be returning to television soon enough! Apparently, this was reported by The Daily Mail yesterday  and producers have met in Hollywood to discuss the possibility. Sarah Jessica Parker has been said to return as a producer, but we hope (I hope) that she’ll reprise her role as Carrie Bradshaw also!

Personally, I’d take the television series over the movies any day!

The Real Life Samantha Jones

I don’t really want to get too far into this story, but basically what you need to know is that Christina Saunders molded her 10-year project after her favorite character from Sex and the City Samantha Jones. So how does a girl with a degree in sociology and English come to a decision like this? You got me. Don’t get me wrong, I love projects. I adore Dating Brian and the girl that tried to kiss strangers wherever, but this girl is doing something dangerous. 1,000 men. Can you even fathom that? I can’t. The best part of this project was not just to prove that she could. She remembered her bedders and decided to rate how good or bad the sex was. Now Christina has put that past behind her and is just trying to settle down.

That’s hilarious.

Downtown Girls

I caught the premiere last night online at MTV.com and when I sat down to finally write this review it was past my bedtime. I decided to let my thoughts on the show simmer overnight and this is what I have concluded.

Prior to watching the show, I had heard a lot of comparisons that Downtown Girls was similar to Sex and the City and The Hills. If you liked Sex and the City, this was good news to you. If you didn’t like the Hills, you weren’t looking for another wannabe.

I can safely say that it is a mix of the two. Downtown Girls features five established women in their mid-twenties who live in Manhattan. What I like about the show is that they have real jobs. Reality television lives up to its name. I have no idea if these women are getting paid for each episode they film unlike the actors on The Hills. [Yeah, I said it.] At least you’re not left wondering where they actually work and how they acquire all of their money when they do absolutely nothing. These women are beautiful, smart, and fun. They’re the type of women you want to be when you’re about 24-25. Correction: They live the life that I would like to live when I’m 24 or 25. Another question I’ve been wondering about is why this show is on MTV? Why this network? It seems more like something for Bravo or even E!

The show is funny, witty, and gets to the point quick. There are no dull moments. The best part doesn’t happen at the end and there are no awkward pauses and screen shots of just glances and shady looks like in The Hills.

I’ve also decided that MTV has been putting out a decent array of shows lately excluding 16 and Pregnant and The Hills franchise etc. Let’s hope they keep it up. I also believe that the best shows stick around for just one season. If there is more than one season, the shows start to become more rehearsed because everyone knows what to expect. This is true w/ Parental Control, The Hills, Real World, etc whereas the best shows that last for one season only are loved because they are fresh Rich Girls, The Paper, PoweR Girls, and Wanna Come In?

What do you think?

Sex and the City 2 Catalogue

When I watched Sex and the City (the movie) with my best friend for the first time, I was in awe of the clothes. There were no other movies, no television shows that could compare to the wardrobes of Charlotte, Samantha, Miranda, and Carrie. I remember that the first movie conveyed many looks around belts. Seriously, go back and watch. Everything was belted. Though I am aware that I may not be able to afford any of the looks from the movie. Scratch that. I can’t even afford one piece from one look in the movie. Just because you don’t have the money doesn’t mean that you can’t admire and gain inspiration.

Producers from the new movie have decided to create the Sex and the City 2 book, which will provide every look from the new movie including a snapshot from the film alongside a model wearing the exact look and each designer that contributed to the overall outfit. The paperback version here is just $19.95, but if you would like to go all out for the deluxe limited edition hardcover, you can shell out $29.95.
