2011 Golden Globe Awards

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa

Chocolate brown and gold sequins are the perfect combination for this Golden Globe gown. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Olivia look this good! I also loved that she wore her hair down with her bangs since we are typically used to seeing it done up.

Life Unexpected

Tonight was a television premiere night for three new shows. First on the review board is Life Unexpected. Before I start, I would just like to say that I haven’t watched regular television in quite some time. Every Sunday, I watch Tough Love with my girls and Greek when it is in season. I watched the entire season of Glee when I was at home for break. With my schedule, it’s really hard to make time for television, but somehow tonight I managed to free up two and a half hours for this.

I first heard about Life Unexpected a couple months ago. The previews looked decent. I was mostly drawn to the show for Shiri Appleby because  she used to be in one of my favorite shows, Roswell, (once on the WB) back when I was ten.

Synopsis: Lux is a fifteen year old girl on the verge of her sixteenth birthday. She has been in foster care all her life and is now seeking emancipation, but she can’t do that unless she gets her birth parents to sign the papers. Both parents are shocked that she has come into their lives and are young and frazzled. Surprise! What else is new? The judge doesn’t grant her emancipation in court because the girl has no job and no place to live. Clearly she isn’t fit to live on her own so she grants her birth parents joint custody.

My take on the show: I’m really quite interested in it so far. The advertisements say it’s like a Juno meets Gilmore Girls, but it is not. For some reason, I do feel like I have seen a show like this before. Do I think it will survive? It’s hard to say. I would really like it to, but it had better have a more hard hitting second episode, cause the premiere was just a tad bit predictable.

In the News…

- Daniel Radcliffe had his first injury while filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows today.

“I was shooting a scene where Harry is fighting a huge snake,” he said. “As you know, the Harry Potter films are big productions, so instead of an actual snake in front of me, our stunt coordinator held a long stick with a boxing glove at the end.”

Poor guy now has a black eye.

- DJ AM has left a $1 million estate behind and no will. His funeral was scheduled for this afternoon.

- Every so often a show will come along and at that point I will add it to my schedule of must-sees. This might be one of them! And also I love Shiri Appleby and have loved her ever since the show Roswell.

- The Duggars are expecting another child. (Not again… but are we even surprised? Absolutely not.)

- Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry will be guest judges on this ninth season of American Idol.

- Halle Berry is expecting also!

- Spencer Pratt recently announced that he wanted to change his name to “King Spencer Pratt.” Gross.

- John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are engaged! But want a short engagement.

-

Sex and the City 2 has begun filming.
