The Space Coast

photo cred | David Ryle

I stumbled upon this photo series the other day by David Ryle showcasing the build up to the launch of the Atlantis space shuttle. These were taken on the East coast of Florida. Ryle was hoping that with this series he could capture the notion of space and the way humans relate with their surroundings.

What if Other Planets Replaced Earth’s Moon?

Neptune instead of the moon

Being a little bit of a space nut, I was excited to come across this post that replaced the moon with other planets. I remember being a kid and just wishing that I could see the entire solar system in the sky every night and not just the moon. Distance didn’t really mean all that much to me back then. These images were created by artist Ron Miller who kind of had a similar question to mine. Check out the rest of the shots here.

A Collection Part 33

Veronica told me just the other day that I was overdue for A Collection post. In looking through my archives, I see that it has only been TWO months. This is actually probably a new record for us. Like many “A Collection” posts, there is no theme. I wish I had something to say about how I’m feeling or why I chose the photographs that I did, but I choose them because at the time it is what is most pleasing to me!

Enjoy!

Christmas Wish List 2012

Every year, I always post a little Yow Yow! Christmas list. I thought I would have more “wants” this year, but I’ve got everything I need! It’s always just fun to have a little list of things that would be nice, but when it comes down to the holidays, good company is all I’m asking for.

Nordstrom Family Table Cookbook – $27.95

It’s been awhile since I’ve received another cookbook and I’m ready to do some work in the kitchen again!

A Collection Part 32

This post is being released today because Veronica reminded me that I was overdue. Something you need to know: she asks for these posts often, but I usually don’t give in because I need to have a specific amount of photos for me to warrant a post. This time, she was right on the money hence…

Currently Craving:

http://files.doobybrain.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/space-ice-cream.jpg

Astronaut ice cream doesn’t sound all that appealing… but here are 7 reasons why I still want to try it anyways:

  1. Astronauts eat it.
  2. Love space
  3. This is a square
  4. NEAPOLITAN?!
  5. Curious about the taste
  6. Curious about the texture
  7. It can easily be obtained here. At Amazon. Like, what doesn’t this place have?

Vintage Chinese Babies in Space

photo cred | Retronaut

This is probably the weirdest thing I’ve seen all week, but also the best thing I’ve seen all week. It combines just a couple of my favorite things: Asian babies and space. They are two things that I never would have imagined would work together, but these posters are completely “pulling it off.” [Ted Mosby style with the red cowboy boots] To view the rest, check the source.

Holiday

Happy Labor Day Y’all!

and the official end to summer! Sad day, I know. I hope all of you have been having a wonderful weekend so far. Later on this week, probably tomorrow – I’ll be posting my 5 favorite things from this past weekend, but for now I”m getting ready for my annual tradition of attending Bumbershoot, Seattle’s favorite music festival near the Space Needle. It’s about to be a lovely day with little Steph and catching M83, Passion Pit, Hey Marseilles, and a few others.

and now I’m going to leave you with this rad picture of an astronaut in an Apple store.
