Photo of the Day:

Our favorite characters “Ellie” and “Jimmy” got together this past weekend! Let’s be real – their “generation” of Degrassi was the absolute best. It’s nice to see that the two of them are still friends. They were probably one of the few people in the series that never got together, but really should have.

Thought Catalog Talks Degrassi

When Degrassi: The Next Generation aired, I did not have TeenNick. Now that I do have TeenNick, I am forced to watch an array of characters that I just don’t understand. Why is Claire dating a guy who is about to become her new stepbrother? That’s not really normal, is it? How could Alli Bhandari back stab her best friend by making out with said step-brother? Where did Declan go ie) the only character that matters? There are so many characters on the show these days that I easily become lost in their story lines.

That’s why I am so glad that Thought Catalog’s recent post, “What Your Favorite Degrassi: The Next Generation Character Says About You,” is bringing us back to the BEST generation of Degrassi characters. It’s the same one that includes Drake – before he was called that, that one girl from The Vampire Diaries, and that one girl in the reboot of 90210. Yes, this generation spawned some success stories!

My favorite character was Ellie Nash and according to this article…”You believe moving to New York City will fix everything.”

My response: Not quite, but not that far off either.

So why is Ellie better than everyone else?

  • First off, she started off as a scene kid, but gradually phased out of that
  • She was a part of an all-girl rock band and also played the drums
  • Ellie was an incredible writer and journalist for her college paper
  • SPOILER ALERT: In the last Degrassi “film,” Ellie finally got together with Craig Manning. Even though it was short-lived, it still happened and that’s all that matters
  • Ellie was the most sensible character in this generation. She never did anything sketchy and she genuinely had a good heart.
  • Outside of Degrassi, the actress that played Ellie, Stacey Farber, starred in another series that didn’t do so well. However, she did intern for Teen Vogue and that’s pretty cool in itself.

Made: The Movie

MTV will be releasing a new television movie entitled “Made: The Movie” based off of their hit television series Made. The movie premiering Tuesday, August 24th, tells the story of a high school geek who strives for popularity by trying out for the cheer squad. Pretty sure Made has had at least four of those episodes. The two hour spectacle is completed scripted and the only reason I’m watching it is for Stacey Farber.
