Copeland Reuniting in 2014

[youtube=http://youtu.be/7NfRV08x8f8]

This might just be the best news that I’ve read in the last week. After six years, Copeland is reuniting to release their 5th full-length self-titled album. When I was a teenager, I remember that feeling of angst and feeling so connected to the music that I was listening to. I probably listened to Copeland the most when I was driving simultaneously weeping to myself in the car. This reunion album will be nothing short of amazing and words cannot even describe how excited I am.

I’ve actually been listening to States – a band comprised of Mindy White and former Copeland members Bryan and Stephen Laurenson and every now and then I feel like I can hear a bit of their older sound. It’s not completely the same though. Just listening to the song teaser above brings back the memories.

Music Spotlight: States

I am so excited to announce to all of you that States’ debut album, “Room to Run,” has finally been released today! I’ve been following the band from the very beginning and was thrilled to hear when this band would be starting up. Mindy White is known for her vocals in Lydia back in the day while Stephen and Bryan Laurenson are former band members of Copeland. The trio have been hard at work on this project first releasing their “Line ‘Em Up” EP about a year ago. Yesterday, AOL unveiled the new album for a special preview of all the songs and I must’ve run through the entire thing at least five times. It is incredible to see the final product of this album and I  urge all of you to give it a listen here. It is also available on both iTunes and Spotify. I don’t even need to bother listing off all of the tracks that I love because they are all my favorites. Trust. The band is in New York this week performing at the CMJ Music Festival and Marathon

States to Go On Tour

States announced today that they will be going on tour with Circa Survive and Maps & Atlases this fall! If you’ve been reading my blog pretty consistently throughout the last year, then you know that I’ve been a huge fan of States since they started. The three members were all a part of bands that I adored back in high school so the fact that they have joined forces together means that their relatively new group dominates. Mindy White formerly of Lydia and Stephen and Bryan Laurenson formerly of Copeland put out one amazing EP this year and even though they’re not coming to Seattle, I urge the rest of you to check out the tour if they are coming to a city near you. If you don’t want to go for States, at least go for freakin’ Circa Survive!

States – Line ‘Em Up

If there is any album I could recommend to you right now to download it would be the new EP by States – Line ‘Em Up. I snagged a copy for myself last night and have been listening to it all day. This band is comprised of the lovely Miss Mindy White [formerly of Lydia] and Bryan and Stephen Laurenson [formerly of Copeland.] The songs are catchy and not overdone or trying too hard…It’s hard for me to explain why I enjoy listening to a band that I do. With States, there is such ease and grace. Every now and then, I detect hints of both Lydia and Copeland and feel like I’m falling in love with those bands all over again. If the name of the band sounds familiar, it’s because I wrote a post about them last May and featured them as a Song of the Day about a month or so after.

I’ve got a lot of other music to listen to, but I don’t want to give up my States. The glimpse of what States will become in this EP makes me very excited for their full length. They are definitely not going anywhere so get ready to hear about them everywhere.

Tracklist:

1. Anxious
2. Falling For
3. Time to Begin
4. Generation
5. Another Chapter
6. Asleep

Feel free to purchase on iTunes or Amazon now! [You really should]
