Stila’s New Liquid Eyeshadow Shades

It has been a few years since I’ve worn eyeshadows as part of my daily routine, but I mostly cut it out to save myself some time and to truly have for myself an “every day” look and a look for nights when I’m going out and dressing up a bit more. When I saw that Stila had released these new liquid eyeshadows though, I stopped in my tracks. I can’t get over how shimmery and mermaid-like these shades look and now I’m filled with curiosity on how these would look on me! As some of you may recall, I am Stila’s #1 fan when it comes to their eyeliner, however, in doing a quick search… I just realized that they have discontinued my favorite one. Well, that’s quite a plot twist. Whatever the case though, I’m excited that these new liquid eyeshadows also double as a shimmery eyeliner. I haven’t ever used a liquid eyeshadow before, but in watching the video below, it seems easy enough and application is sometimes the most difficult challenge for me when it comes to new products.

Beauty For Breakfast Pt. 3

Product: Stila Kajal Eye Liner in Emerald

Been Using It For: 5 years

How Did I Find It?: The first time I was introduced to this eye liner was probably back in my early high school days at Sephora. I was deep into my “scene” phase back then so instead of wearing normal black eyeliner, I opted for the emerald. To this day, I am still using the same eyeliner and go through one  each year. Typically my routine would include using the Stila emerald liner on my bottom waterline and a black eye liner on top. It’s a little strange to be utilizing two different colors and two different types of eyeliner for my eyes, but I’ve been doing the same thing for so long that I haven’t tried to change that. What I love about this Stila eye liner is that it goes on smoothly and kind of chalky. It resembles more of a marker than a harsh pencil, which is why pencil liners freak me out. The shade also comes naturally smoky making it easier to create smokey eyes for a night out.

Hold the Raccoon eyes

Growing up, I remember getting ready for school in the morning and going through my entire routine (yes, the routine that still takes me about 20-25 min every morning) with my mom walking by the bathroom saying, “Not too much!” She used to always warn me that eyes were sensitive and there are so much chemicals in eyeliner and eyeshadow that they can harm your eyes. I believed it, but I never did that much to change my habits.

My routine still consists of Stila kajal eyeliner on the bottom and Physician’s Formula brightening liquid liner on top to this day.

I think the worst part about having eye makeup on is anytime you get an eyelash stuck in your eye and then you have to rub it away leaving behind a nasty smear. I especially had to be more careful because I was a contact user. I also have a fear of eyes. It’s weird, I know, but it freaks me out sometimes!

I wasn’t very happy to discover this morning that ophthalmologists actually advise people against using this type of product because they can cause eye infections. If you’re not going to change your habits of using eyeliner (most won’t) they have one little bit of advice for us. After every swipe that you use on your eyes, always re-sharpen your eyeliner to give it a cleaner slate. This makes sense; I understand the contamination idea, however, I don’t think I will be doing this only because it feels OCD to me.

What will you do? What products do you use?
