The Closet: February 2019

Vince V-neck Bias Cut Dress$295 – $176.98

We are headed into spring territory! These posts are always so dangerous for me to write because they make my wallet weak. It’s easy to make a wishlist and even easier to make an online purchase. Like we mentioned in the last Closet post though, 2019 is all about being a little bit more financially responsible. Gone are the days where I would make a purchase on a weekly basis or whenever I was having a bad day. There are other cures for self love than spending money. Since we’ve got spring on the brain though, I’m starting to think about what dresses I am in need of. You’ll also see a number of heels in this post because some of my classics are getting worn down to the bone. As always, we’re seeking recommendations if anyone has any!

Anthropologie Lavinia Fleece Pullover – $128

I have your sweater needs covered. At the start of fall, all I wanted was a sweater refresh for my closet. After a full calendar year of wearing sweaters, I’ve found that sometimes they just don’t fit the way you want them to. They can start to pill. They may become stretched out. Maybe that trendy sweater you purchased wasn’t a good idea and that trend is so far gone it doesn’t make sense to put it on anymore. Whatever the case, each season provides you with plenty of options. I got a little lost in Anthropologie’s website recently and while I didn’t make any purchases, myself, I definitely found a few picks that I would snag. Here are my picks for sweaters and then a little extra. Up next? Our favorite, we’re getting a head start this year on holiday party wear because mine is actually early December!

Lara Swimsuit Pale Blue – $165.94

I am headed out for my getaway later on this week so it’s no surprise that we’ve got vacation items on the brain! It’s been feeling quite chilly in the Bay so a trip to warmer temperatures is everything we need. For the first time in years, I’ve acquired three new swimsuits in one year and I do’t even want to quit! How delicious are some of these ones that I’m sharing with you below? And of course, for warmer evenings, there’s nothing more that you could want than easier slip dresses to toss on over your head. Raise your hand if you could live in summer mode forever. That’s us!

BaubleBar Tassel Oval Hoop Earrings – $38

Is anyone sensing a theme with these pieces? I have been on a break from traveling for the last month and already we’re itching to take our next vacation. And this time, I mean a real vacation – one that includes a destination where I can be on the beach all day for all the days (okay, a week!) and can fully disconnect. That means, no blogging, no emails, nothing about work, but yes to Instagram posts and stories. We have to have some boundaries. I don’t own too many pieces like the ones below, but it’s never too late. They all seem like the breeziest comfort pieces I have ever laid my eyes on. I have nothing in the works yet for a trip planned, but am already excited to start dreaming up my ideal vacay and learning what it really means to relax.

Warby Parker Coley frames in crystal – $95

We started off this post feeling extremely minimal, but a closer look will show you that we finally recognized it was spring. Therefore, COLOR! At least just a little bit sprinkled in. Spring time is typically the period when I refresh my closets, but I’m choosing to save a bit of money this year especially after all my travels so none of these will be bought. For now, they are just a part of my dream list and maybe if we’re lucky, we’ll snag at least one of these items. The thing I actually need though is a pair of new glasses! My current Warby Parker’s have been with me since 2012 and I’m pretty positive the prescription on those no longer matches my current one. If you had to pick one item from this list, what would you purchase?

Solo Six – Jody Cardigan – Charcoal – $295

This month, we are ALL about the cozy cozy. I’ve always been the kind of girl that loved being dressed up at all times. I didn’t understand the concept of sweats or the appeal to wearing pajamas to places even on elementary spirit days. No thanks, I’ll be putting on a dress and y’all can wear your fuzzy slippers. If I got close to anything considered loungewear, it would be leggings only. For the most part, this has carried over into my adult life, but I will admit that several times a week, I come home and immediately change out of my “work” clothes and into something a little less constricting. As much as I love my structured denim, there’s something about them that feels unnatural pairing them with my wool socks underneath my softest blanket. Also now that I’m living up in San Francisco, more than ever, I’m embracing layering and learning how to get really creative with my pairings.

Need Supply Co. Farrow Manor Skirt – $78

This is bulkiest post we’ve had in quite some time! Can you tell that we’re getting colder in San Francisco now? We’ve got a few winter coats in here, but also a few accessories that I’ve had my eye on as well. Sweaters completely dominate this post though. It’s all I ever want to wear every day now and for good reason. I think I work my best and my hardest when I’m most comfortable and most comfortable to me just means “most cozy.”
