Music Spotlight: Clara C

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKLm95iZ11Q]

Good morning readers! It looks like today is going to be somewhat of a music-themed day – not that I have any problem with that at all. My brother’s gonna be upsest with me once he sees this post because apparently he’s been telling me about Clara C for months now (so he claims) and now I’m jumping on the bandwagon a little too late. Whatever bro – these things take time alright? I can’t explain why I have to discover new music on my own, but I just do.

First off, can we talk about how sweet this stop-motion video is?! How cute! Secondly, I heard about Clara C earlier in the week when I was hunting down new music at thesixtyone, which is a type of music streaming site similar to my favorite We Are Hunted. I heard one song – Groovesharked the rest of the album and now it is all I listen to. Hopefully you’ll all love it as much as I do. If you have the time, you should also check out her AMAZING covers on her YouTube channel here!

Thesixtyone

One of the reasons I have been lagging on Yow Yow! lately is because I have been listening to a lot of new music. Sure, school gets in the way, but around dinner time I find myself eating my meals to the sounds of mix tapes from new artists. Fun job right?

Everyone loves to hear new stuff because let’s face it, just because you hear a song on the radio for the first time doesn’t mean that it is new. In reality, the song has been playing repeatedly on that station for the past few weeks (you just have been missing it ) and get this – that song was probably released on an independent radio station four months ago. Did I just burst a bubble?

Anyways, if you’re interested in hearing some new stuff check out Thesixtyone – a site that allows new artists to post up their music for other listeners to decide if they are worth listening to. It’s not as cutthroat as I am making it out to be. The first band I listened to was The Whispertown 2000 (pictured above,) but I’ve managed to get a mixture including The Weepies, Phantogram and a Bjork Ratatat remix.
