Infographic: What Kind of Geek Are You

We have officially reached a time when the geek culture has been deemed acceptable in our society. Yes. I think I’ve always been a part of the small percentage that thought geeks were cool, but it was mostly because I could never understand why they weren’t. Steve Urkel, was annoying, sure. Some may call him a little bit clumsy, but have you ever come across someone with a sense of humor like his? Minkus was somewhat of a know-it-all, but he had good intentions. After all, he loved Topanga. It didn’t matter that she was never going to share the same interest in him in the end, but that never stopped him regardless.

Geeks rule. Enough said.

I’m a pop culture geek; which one are you?

Inception Explained

It’s hard to believe that it was nearly two years ago that I was sitting in a theater on the opening night of Inception for my internship. I’ve watched the film maybe once or twice every year since then, but if you asked me to explain it to you, I wouldn’t be able to. Luckily, I don’t really have to because Inception Explained is kind of like an infographic that holds your hand the entire way in a manner that is visually pleasing and kind of fun!

Check it out here and prepare to be a little less lost.

Welcome to Seattle

Last week, Seattle University students introduced me to a new Tumblr called “Welcome to Seattle” that is filled with all of our own personal jokes about how things really are in the city…It was a nice time waster for a day.

Where we say we are green, but if you ask us to walk, we’re all like

Where 55 degree is shorts and T-shirts weather

For the Indecisive

A little over a year and a half ago, I stumbled upon this abrasive website called “What the Fuck Should I Make For Dinner?” I used it for awhile when I couldn’t seem to decide what to eat, but then I made the ultimate decision for a lazy person and just ate out for a series of meals. The website, however, is useful and so direct that it kind of in a way kicks your butt into gear. Since their first website was so successful, they have expanded into Where the Fuck Should I Go For Drinks and Where The Fuck Should I Go For Dinner.

Genius.

Featured Blog: BDLG 25 – Free People

One of my favorite blogs, BLDG 25, for the  Free People brand has just undergone a makeover! I’ve been reading the blog for years, but unfortunately with school – I only get around to it every few months. I’m thinking it’s about time to upgrade to daily basis status, what do you guys think?

Check it out here.

BuzzFeed Doesn’t Make This Stuff Up

I cannot I believe I just giggled through an entire BuzzFeed post. It’s not unusual cause I’m sure it happens to most people reading the site on a daily basis, but I’ve never been this consistent.

Texts From Hillary Team Gracefully Bow Out

While Tumblrs and websites dedicated to specific memes are still pretty funny, there comes a point in time when the funny just becomes a whole lot less. Texts From Hillary skyrocketed when the Tumblr debuted last week reaching viral status, but now the two creators, Adam Smith and Stacy Lambe have decided to make their exit and quit while they are still ahead.

“After a week that included 32 posts, 83,000 shares on Facebook, 8,400 Twitter followers, over 45K Tumblr followers, news stories around the world, Renee Montagne from Morning Edition saying ‘ROFL,’ a Maureen Dowd column, and a tweet from ?uest Love, we think it’s time to stop while we are ahead,” they write by way of explanation. “As far as memes go – it has gone as far as it can go. Is it really possible to top a submission from the Secretary herself? No. But then when you get to text with her in real life – it’s just over. At least for us. But we have no doubt it will live on with all of you on the Internet.”

This reminds me of when @Condeelevator still existed and to this day, I still miss it terribly.

Texts From Hillary

I’ve been trying to avoid this Tumblr all week convincing myself that it wasn’t going to be as hilarious as everyone said it was.

I was wrong. It is.

As It Lays

In the interview series, As It Lays, host Alex Israel asks celebrities some pretty bizarre questions. Nonetheless, the show is still pretty intriguing. Watch as he asks Rachel Zoe what her perfect salad would consist of and if she recycles as home.

Blink Books

What would I do without my blogs? Thanks to Nylon today, I was able to discover these clever Blink Books created my internet users on  the most random subjects. Essentially, they are blog posts compiled into 14 page “Blink Books,” which means it’s the perfect length to hold a blogger’s attention span.

My favorite was “You Swore You’d Never Do That” by Stephanie Young. (top right)

Check out all of the books here.

Buzzfeed Tells You How To Get Through A Rough Day

Every now and then, we come across what we call “a bad day.” They are inevitable at times and unavoidable, but it is what it is. Now, I will never tell you that someone else is worse off and that for every bad day you have, there are millions of people who are suffering from worse days (even though it might be true) because I believe that everyone is entitled to feel the way they want to feel. You think you’re having a bad day? That sucks! I feel for you, bro.

I’m also digging on this guide from Buzzfeed that shows you in a step-by-step process how to get through your rough days. Print it out. Put it in your back pocket and you’re good to good. You just never know when those sketchy bad days will creep up on you.

Step 1: Print this picture and hang it over your desk.

7×7 SEA

Over spring break, Samantha informed me of a website that she keeps tabs on pretty often that focuses mainly on cultural news and events in San Francisco. Just recently, she let slip to me that they have also branched off into a Seattle division as well. 7×7 SEA details what’s going on in the city, highlights an events calendar, and features guides to certain topics. My new favorite this morning? The 7 Best Neighborhoods in Seattle. And why is it on my radar? Because Capitol Hill was named the neighborhood with the Best Eats! That couldn’t be more true.

I’m happy to announce (but also stressed) that 7×7 SEA has now been added to my daily blog roll along with a couple of other websites that I peruse on the daily for my Seattle news including The Stranger blogs, Capitol Hill Seattle, and Seattle Met Blogs.

Welcome to the gang y’all!
