Foster the People to Release New Album in 2014

It’s been almost three years since we’ve had a new album from Foster the People and either I enjoy their music a lot and have missed them so or this is just unusual for any band to wait this long for another release. They’ve made it clear that they wanted to be worth the wait. After a successful debut album and laying low from touring, the band has left fans guessing as to when or if they would ever make a return. I’m thrilled to announce tonight that Foster the People has released some word on their whereabouts and it looks like we’ll be getting a new album in 2014 – early 2014 to be specific and a new single in January!

“It’s not the record that people are gonna expect us to release second. It’s definitely an evolution for us, and it’s a more polarizing record for us, so I’m excited to see how it’s received, for better or worse,” Foster told Rolling Stone.

From what it sounds like, it looks like Mark Foster will be switching things up for this second album and holding back on the electronics that are so consistent throughout Torches.

“I went into it wanting to do something more organic and human, because the first record was so electronic and synthetic – in a cool way, I’m not putting it down, that’s just what it was,” Foster said. “So this record, I wanted to make something more human and let the songs breathe and grow and turn and take left turns and not come back if they want to. It’s a brave record.”

WHOA Bonus Song of the Day

Not like it’s new or anything…

I’ve been giving off very mixed signals to all of you in the last couple of weeks regarding my feelings for Foster the People and I kind of owe you an apology. I do not hate Foster the People. Unfortunately, I’m somewhat of a music snob. [whoa. vulnerability.] And it’s just one of those things that can’t be helped (not that I’ve actually tried to quit – let’s be real.) I’m sort of like that kid in pre-school that doesn’t want to share my special toy, but I’ll share my snack instead? I’m fine with sharing some music with you all, but Foster the People was kind of like that special toy that I just wanted to hold onto forever. Well, that definitely didn’t happen.

But for the record, I don’t hate this group. The truth is I adore this group with every fiber of my being. I will dance around and sing at the top of my lungs along with “Call It What You Want” and Torches is my favorite album of the year. I would probably weep silently  if I ever got the chance to see them live.

There. I said it.
