Toy Stories

all photos by | Gabriele Galimberti

I was quite the collector and toy enthusiast when I was a small child. As kids, you don’t really have any perception as to how much these toys cost and I have to say that if I were my parents, I would be a little upset at me right now knowing that I was going through several phases of toys that would just be played out over a month. I’m looking at you Poo-chi – the substitute I had because I couldn’t have a real dog, or the Razor scooter. That toy is simply just a mode of transportation and let me just say that even then I wasn’t active enough for that. Italian photographer Gabriele Galimberti spent 18 months traveling and capturing photographs of children with their toys from all over the world. The series is incredible and reminds me of my own childhood (and yes photographs!) with my Beanie Babies and Polly Pockets.

Boo the Dog Becomes A Stuffed Animal

photo cred | Refinery29

When my friend Dom first introduced me to Boo, I immediately became smitten. This is the most adorable dog I have ever seen! I dare you to try and find another famous dog that has over 2.6 million fans on Facebook and a book of its photographs. You can’t. Okay the other famous dog that I would like to have is the dog that celebrates its birthday every year and kind of has human looking eyes. You’ve seen it right? I post about his birthday every year.

Anyways, Boo is famous on the interwebs and I am envious of the owners. I suppose this stuffed animal was created so that we could all have a little piece of Boo in our homes.

Hey friends and family, this present would make me a very happy girl on my birthday. To learn more about pre-ordering, click the source below.

The Toys I’ll Never Have

It’s a funny thing when you realize that you are no longer a kid anymore. Granted, I haven’t been a kid for many years now, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think about my childhood often or see my old toys when I come home. If someone would’ve told me as a kid that in my pre-teen years, makeup and clothes would become more important than my Mario Party and Polly Pockets, I would’ve laughed in their face. No way. Chemical and powder on your face? Where’s the fun in that? It isn’t fun. In fact, sometimes those things costs just as much as toys, which is kind of a disgusting fact.

Though I can’t see myself playing with toys anymore cause..uh I’m 21 and all, I still think about the toys I had and the toys I never had. And with that, here are the toys that I never received for Christmas – but this is nothing against my parents because they provided me with more than enough toys throughout my childhood.

Baby All Gone

Something I’ll never understand is why little girls wanted to become mothers at a young age. Baby All Gone just seemed so much fun with the disappearing act of the food and the bottle. I later learned that it had something to do with a magnet and a secret compartment for the bottle, but hey! back then I didn’t know that.

Whatthecool Roundup

Have you ever tried sleeping with earbuds? It doesn’t work. By morning, my earbuds are entangled in my ears and/or they feel sore from having headphones wedged in. I suppose that’s why SleepPhones was created and apparently it’s supposed to be the “most comfortable headphones for sleeping.” UM. Do want. Only $39.95 [Source]

Diva Pumps For the Lovely Miss Piggy

I’m probably the only 21-year old to ever admit this, but I really want to see the new Muppets movie. When I was a little kid, I loved all of the characters. Maybe this isn’t news to anyone though since I mentioned a couple weeks ago how much I still loved Elmo. There are some things that you grow out of, but there are others that will stick with you and the Muppets are really not something to be ashamed of.

Designer Jerome C. Rousseau designed these beautiful “Diva” pink pumps to honor the BIGGEST diva of all time – at least to the children of the world anyways. Even though I’ve outgrown my girly girl ways, I still believe that every girl needs to own either a pair of pink pumps or a pair of sparkly pumps. Personally, I’d like to own pumps in every color – but that’s just me.

Do Want

The Easy Bake Oven got so futuristic. Please can I have this for Christmas? Why do the treats look like they are the size of rings? Do kids not eat anything anymore?
