Warby Parker in Seattle x2

Screen Shot 2016-08-20 at 1.54.48 PM

Warby Parker just opened up their 2nd location in Seattle and they are celebrating all day today! I wish I were home for it because from what I’ve seen of the photos already, the shop looks amazing. Nestled in the beautiful University Village Shopping Center, Warby Parker’s shop is also housing a stunning mural by Geoff McFetridge. Pictured below is just 1 of 2 murals that are done. I’ve always loved Warby Parker shops and how each store location is different and embodies its own personality and style. This team is kind of amazing.

Home for the Holidays

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset

There’s nothing worse than being sick during your vacation and of course the holidays! In the month of December, my company gives us a generous amount of time off so that we can get away from work, unwind and actually relax, and spend time with friends and families. A lot of my coworkers actually go on elaborate trips during this time and I always get so jealous, but it’s also the perfect time for me to just return home to Seattle too.

On the first day of break, I came down with the flu. Hard. And it was absolutely miserable – so bad that I didn’t even get to go visit all of my favorite places and eat at all of my favorite restaurants! I was feeling like my entire body was being torn apart piece by piece. My head was aching so badly that I felt it would explode. My joints were almost swollen with pain. This is when I decided that I should consider consuming immunity shots to help alleviate the symptoms. Honestly, the little bottles filled with the goodness of Vitamins A, D, C, and K sis impress me. I really feel that these health supplements can increase the level of antioxidants in the body which can prevent flu-like symptoms from occurring.

Anyway, I would have to say that even though the flu was affecting me badly, I was able to keep up with my normal life to some extent–I’m especially surprised at how many photos we were able to capture from the trip. Above is a snapshot of Oddfellows’ outdoor holiday decorations that I took when I met up with Max, Veronica, and her boyfriend Alex over brunch.

In Quick Seattle News…

photo cred | Seattle Met

– Din Tai Fung will be opening a Seattle location at University Village this coming fall. The restaurant’s Bellevue location is already a huge hit, but will probably spread their customers out a little bit more with a Seattle spot as well. The new space which is currently being constructed near Blue C Sushi will be larger than the Bellevue Square location but will house a very similar menu. [Source]

– The original Red Robin space  on Eastlake will soon be occupied by a Pecos Pit! The chain specializes in barbecue brisket and pulled pork. Construction  on the new location will begin this fall. [Source]

– Boom Noodle has eliminated the “Noodle” from its name and now would like to just be called “Boom.” In addition to the name change, they’ve also added a late night dining special from Thurs-Sat  10PM-midnight. The menu will include tapas with prices ranging from $7-$14 and well drinks starting at $3.50 with $1 off draft beer, wine, and sakes. I love it when restaurants transition themselves to become a bar spot too. [Source]

– In just two weeks, Capitol Cider will open its doors to the public and no one is more excited than me. Hi, ciders are basically my drink of choice and now there is an entire bar dedicated to it. The menu will also include local brews, but let’s be real. I’m there for the cider and nothing else except maybe the brunch that will soon come and for the environment that will resemble an English-style pub. For more details, click here.

Welcome to Seattle, Room & Board

The invitation for Room & Board’s opening party could not have come at a better time. It seems that redecorating and furniture purchasing have been on my mind a lot lately and after stepping foot inside University Village’s newest furniture store, I’ve decided that I want just about everything.

Now we haven’t been to too many events, but as of late – I’ve gotta say that this was my favorite! Room & Board was gorgeous. The most beautiful pieces were highlighted throughout the store and I had a fabulous time with Tori and Veronica. Two words. Open Bar. Four more words. Twice in one week! Delectable appetizers were provided by Herban Feast and the entertainment provided by a special performance featuring BLIND PILOT! Tori and Veronica have been telling me about this band for nearly a year especially while we were searching for bands for Quadstock, but this was my first time listening to them and they left quite the impression. With all of these things going on, it was quite difficult to take our eyes off of the furniture. The modern look and design of it all was impressive. Did you know that 90% of Room & Board’s furniture is made by American craftspeople? Room & Board has been helping customers find furniture and accessories to suit their living style since 1980 and now, they have come to take over Seattle in 2012.

It’s time to start shopping! Start making your dream wishlist here.

Thank you so much to Gruman & Nicoll for inviting me.

Room & Board Invitation

We’ve got a busy week here for Yow Yow! It’s time to celebrate both City Arts Fest and the grand opening celebration for University Village’s new modern furniture store, Room & Board. Reminds you of college, doesn’t it? Except the designs are phenomenal and I can tell you right now that it is nothing like the dorm furniture you know of. These are the types of pieces that I can’t wait to furnish my new home in so this is invitation is coming at a perfect time!

Along with my invitation today came a signature Pendleton blanket – the Rainier National Park – the perfect addition to any home. Thank you all for the wonderful gift!

Can’t wait for the party!

It Was A Good Day

It’s still pretty early in the month y’all, but let me just say…October is turning out to be pretty amazing! While it can be difficult at times to juggle both my day job as a recruiter and my evening job as a blogger, I am very fortunate that what I do in my profession allows me to have the best of the both worlds. I really do feel like like I’m living a double life, but I’m living a life that I absolutely love and enjoy. I wanted to share some exciting news with you all!

Yow Yow! is headed into it’s fourth year this coming January and to this day I am still amazed at all of the readers and the support. You’ve allowed me to do something that I love and to express something that is very much a part of me (just not all of me!) I’m excited to announce that I will be covering City Arts Fest in a couple weeks for the first time ever! I haven’t exactly decided which shows I will be attending just yet, but I am grateful to have been provided an all access wristband by the organizers. Additionally, I will be attending the opening party for University Village’s new Room & Board store for modern furniture…the same week. Busy girl over here. I’ll be posting coverage on the blog and live tweeting of course!

Seattle Is Hungry For Hunger Games

For every page I finish in my paper, I get to reward myself by writing another post. It’s a nice way to hold myself accountable I think and a way to record my progress.

So I haven’t read The Hunger Games, but I’ve heard so many wonderful things about this series that I cannot wait until I can begin to start reading it. This movie is already on its way to breaking the records at the box office and it won’t even be released until March 23rd, 2012. The reason for that being is because of all the promotion it has been getting. Have you seen the trailer? It looks amazing. In addition to standard press and word of my mouth buzz, the three stars of the film – Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson will be embarking on a national Q&A mall tour. The three cast members will be here in Seattle at University Village in front of the Microsoft store on Saturday, March 10th. The event is free.

Barnes & Noble is Packing Up at University Village

Don’t worry, Barnes & Noble is not going out of business – though that was my first worried thought. Turns out, the lease is just up so the books have got to go. Unfortunately, they won’t even be relocating at all, which means you are down to just two Barnes & Nobles locations in Pacific Place Mall downtown and Northgate Mall. Their last day will be December 28, 2011 right after Christmas.

Alright, let’s predict what will go in there next.

Crossing my fingers for a ZARA!

Farewell Zao!

University Village’s very Americanized imitated Asian eatery Zao Noodle Bar has closed after ten years. Today, all Zao Noodle Bar locations have shut down and gone out of business for good.

The website looks so empty… it’s kind of eerie. Zao had locations in California and Oregon as well.

What will take over this space?

The Stranger says Microsoft most likely. You know what that means…

MILEY CYRUS?!
