Miranda Kerr and Victoria’s Secret Part Ways

After multiple rumors swirled around last week that Victoria’s Secret had snatched Miranda Kerr’s wings from being an angel, the model has finally come clean about the breakup. Sources say that Kerr was “not a big seller for VS” (definitely not true!) while another source cited that she had a “difficult reputation.” Obviously, there was no truth to these rumors. Miranda is bowing out of her role as an angel because she’s a new mother and like many new moms, time off is kind of expected. Her priorities have changed and who can knock her down for that for wanting to be there for her 2-year old son Flynn with husband Orlando Bloom?

Miranda will surely be missed, but at least my favorite Lily Aldridge is still in!

Stop Glamourizing the Native American Look

Recently No Doubt was forced to pull their latest music video for their single, “Looking Hot” because lead singer Stefani was wearing a Native American wear throughout the duration for it. It’s not like this was small news or anything. Everyone seemed to weigh in on it – bloggers, journalist, twitter users, and the Native American community. So I’m a little confused as to why the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show decided to go through with a look that Karlie Kloss wore involving a Native American headdress.

Were the designers and producers living under a rock? As soon as No Doubt’s controversial video was pulled, I would’ve thought that the show organizers would decide to pull the look as well. But, they didn’t. The look appeared down the runway and once again, everyone had an opinion on it and now Karlie Kloss will not appear in the television special wearing it this December.

People really ought to be paying more attention in this industry. #poortaste

Victoria’s Secret Angels Kiss and Tell

I am really glad that Victoria’s Secret has decided to bring their angels to the forefront in these cute videos that they keep making. Up until this year, I believed that every Victoria’s Secret model was an “angel.” It never occurred to me that the angels were the actual spokeswomen for the brand though. I have found that models have a very difficult time connecting with their audience because if you think about, when do you ever hear them speak while they are working? On the runway, they are simply modeling, but they follow this standard and unlike say – an actress or an athlete or musician, you never get a sense of their personality. These videos allow them to do just that.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Recap

I may not be a regular at Victoria’s Secret, but I am a huge fan of the annual fashion show that airs on CBS every winter. I’ve always had an interest in runway shows, but what sets this one apart from all the others is that the models actually LOOK like they are having fun. Seriously, don’t you agree? They’re smiling, they’re dancing…there’s 300 pounds of glitter on the runway. Just picture that for a second. You would die if 300 pounds of glitter were on top of you. And that’s scary, but that’s what makes the show so successful. Well, that and all the models and the lingerie you know…

Highlights:

  • Performers: Kanye West, Jay-Z, Maroon 5 and Nicki Minaj
  • Favorite theme: Aquatic Angels
  • How cute was Orlando Bloom rising almost every time wife Miranda Kerr hit the stage?
  • To keep you on the edge of your seat, the organizers of the show went all intense on us and gave us a play-by-play of what was going on backstage. Will Adriana make it in time?! Of course she does.
  • Karlie Kloss is the ultimate HBIC. This may be her first time walking for the show, but she’s no stranger to the runway – having snagged all of the major runway shows every single season.
  • Lily Aldridge is the best ever.
  • Not enough Chanel Iman.
  • Anne V. and Adam Levine…merrrrr

The $2 million Fantasy Bra

Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima debuted the fantasy bra that she will be wearing at the VS Fashion Show next month. The bra, designed by Damiani, is worth $2 million and is covered in 3,000 white diamonds and if that isn’t enough, they have also been “set in 18 karat white gold.”

I don’t know if I could ever wear something worth that much because I’d be too afraid of ruining it!
