Yow Yow’s Yearly Recap

4 years. Can you believe it? It’s surreal to me that I’ve kept Yow Yow! going for this long, but at the same time having Yow Yow! is also kind of like my very own personal diary. It’s kind of cool! I get to look back on some bad writing, some bad photos (or photos that are no longer photos) and some really embarrassing moments in history.

At the same time, I’ve also had the opportunity to witness AMAZING things in history. This year, Yow Yow! didn’t change much, but I did. I graduated from college y’all! As a small child, that day seems so far away – light years away! I’ve got my degree. I found myself a big girl job. I fled from Seattle – never thought that would happen either, but it had to someday. 2012 was good to me and 2013 (I hope) will be even better for us – me and Yow Yow!

So let’s get to the numbers, shall we?

Stats from 2011 will be on the right and italicized while stats from 2012 will be left and bold.

750,119 total visits to Yow Yow! – – – – – – – – – – –  1,128,873+ (since the day isn’t over yet and this does not include up until New Year’s Eve) total visits to Yow Yow!

*In just 2012, there were 377,996+ visits to Yow Yow!

Review: On My Block Fashion Show

Last night, I was invited by the Fashion Club of Seattle University to attend their annual fashion show and was absolutely blown away by the entire production. This was the fifth year that they were hosting the fashion show so it has been around since before I arrived at Seattle University, but believe it or not – this was the first time I have ever attended. For someone who writes fashion posts on the daily, you would think otherwise. In my last year, I have sort of made it my goal to attend some of Seattle University’s biggest events and I was thrilled to be asked to review this one. I have never been a part of fashion club, but I do have a few ties to it and am more than impressed by all of the work that has been put into this show.

This year’s event was in support of a non-profit organization called “Dress For Success,” which provides underprivileged women with suits for interviews and tips on developing their career. The show’s theme was “Two Natures at War” and featured clothing from a number of retailers and my two favorites Zebra Club and VueSociety. Overall the whole experience was just wonderful. I had a great time and was so proud to see my dear friend Vicky (pictured above) open AND close the show. The girl was slayin’ it. What I also love about the fashion industry is its ties to music. The music, provided by Ben Garrison, was complimentary to the presentation of the clothes last night. In fact, I loved it so much that I tried to Spotify all of the songs featured when I got home. Personally I have always felt that music has inspired a large part of my wardrobe so it was refreshing to be able to see that last night.

Before I get into some of the photos, I would also like to give a shout out to two wonderful ladies who walked  in the show last night and who have blogs of their own that I adore. Jessie Carbullido and Rayann Onzuka are two women on campus who exude incredible style and in my opinion, stand out as being fashion leaders at Seattle University.
