Passion Pit – Constant Conversations

When I first heard this song on We Are Hunted, I listened to it on loop for the entire day. Do you know how many times that is possible? Too many. And I never got sick of it. The new Passion Pit album is fantastic and I cannot wait to see them at this year’s Bumbershoot (maybe even twice!) I’m excited to see them because this will be the first time, but also because I know that lead singer Michael Angelakos has been going through a tough time right now battling his bi-polar disorder and cancelling several shows to regain his strength again. Yow Yow! wishes him a speedy recovery!

Hey Marseilles – Elegy

Good morning! To jump into my first day of school routine this morning, I started playing the soundtrack to my day with the We Are Hunted app for Spotify. Right off the bat, I noticed that one of my favorite local bands Hey Marseilles was in the second slot on the front page! That’s huge!

Maybe I should rewind for a second.

First off, I love Spotify. I barely even touch my iTunes these days.

Secondly, I also adore We Are Hunted – a website that allows you to stream music from up-and-coming artists and bands.

Together, I love them both.

Third, Hey Marseilles is a local band that has gotten so much buzz in Seattle within the last year slash my former boss is in the band. Needless to say, anytime I hear anything about the band, I get excited especially when it involves these three things.

Music Spotlight: Clara C

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKLm95iZ11Q]

Good morning readers! It looks like today is going to be somewhat of a music-themed day – not that I have any problem with that at all. My brother’s gonna be upsest with me once he sees this post because apparently he’s been telling me about Clara C for months now (so he claims) and now I’m jumping on the bandwagon a little too late. Whatever bro – these things take time alright? I can’t explain why I have to discover new music on my own, but I just do.

First off, can we talk about how sweet this stop-motion video is?! How cute! Secondly, I heard about Clara C earlier in the week when I was hunting down new music at thesixtyone, which is a type of music streaming site similar to my favorite We Are Hunted. I heard one song – Groovesharked the rest of the album and now it is all I listen to. Hopefully you’ll all love it as much as I do. If you have the time, you should also check out her AMAZING covers on her YouTube channel here!

Those Work Days

Every once in awhile, we find ourselves getting a little distracted from our work and venturing off to other websites so I wanna know…what sites are you going to?

I’ve been spending a lot of time researching music lately and predicting artists and bands and in order to do that I have to completely branch away from my iTunes library. I first blogged about We Are Hunted back in November 2010, but it is still a site that I frequent quite often for new music. The website pulls all of the songs that have been getting buzz lately on the internet so that we can listen to it all in one place. You can also choose to listen to artists that are emerging, mainstream, remixed, or by genre. There’s something for everyone so if you’re ever looking for something new to listen to, this is your home.

1 Band 1 Brand

For as long as I have known, music and fashion have gone hand-in-hand. The collision of the two art forms together have inspired each outlet equally and to witness this progression over the years has been astounding. Kurt Cobain’s music paved the way for the grunge period while Lady Gaga’s work today has somewhat transformed her fashion get-ups from when she first started.

It isn’t difficult to see that there is definitely some overlapping. 1 Band 1 Brand has recognized that and are dedicated to promoting both emerging bands and up-and-coming fashion designers with their new start-up. Each week, registered users will have the opportunity to learn about one band and one brand. The band’s music will be available for pay-your-own-price. More recently, I have actively been trying to find out ways to listen to tons of new artists and bands for some upcoming research that I’m doing. Unfortunately, I wasn’t getting a lot of responses from Yow Yow! but managed to find opportunities in music blogs, and sites like Turntable, We Are Hunted, and now 1 Band 1 Brand. Needless to say, I already registered.

We Are Hunted

The name We Are Hunted has absolutely nothing to do with the site that it has created, but I’ll take it. Right now, music streaming sites are HOT. There’s GrooveShark, XM Radio, Playlist, and Pandora. They’ve been around for sometime now, but that’s just not in right now. You know what is in? [cue Justin Timberlake moment from The Social Network] Music that you don’t get to choose yourself. That’s right, completely random. How does it feel to have limited control? I know it’s scary at first – I understand, really I do, but We Are Hunted is doing you a huge favor. They are bringing to you completely NEW tracks that you probably haven’t heard of. You might recognize a few of the artists: J. Cole, Girl Talk, Hellogoodbye. This is a chance for you to broaden your music taste so why not take it?

Take the plunge. We Are Hunted.
