Wedding Mondays

I’ve been following [Lucie Fink] and her videos for years ever since she joined Refinery29. In fact, while I have no video talent whatsoever, she’s the one that made reconsider including more video. I’m still at beginner level and the closest I’ve gotten is with Instagram Stories, but she was my original inspiration.

What I have enjoyed about Lucie is that she opens up to her audience quite a bit. Over the years, we’ve learned about her career, her family, her present day life, and more importantly her relationship with Michael. We’ve followed her through her entire journey and it’s that kind of present-ness that I hope to have for Yow Yow! someday too.

I watched her wedding video while on my commute the other day and embarrassingly, found my eyes welling up with tears. Yes, this still happens to us.

Wedding Mondays

It is such a treat when I get permission to share a wedding video from one my friends. In our last Wedding Mondays post, it may have seemed like I was completely fed up with the series that I created on Yow Yow! but this post is quite the opposite. You may not believe me, but I likely would have posted this even if I didn’t know Anji and Sherwin. Prior to them hiring Kapsule Co. I had been following them on Instagram for some time. It’s unclear how I first discovered them, but I loved them for their simplicity and timeless elegance. It’s not just the weddings they shoot that fall into this category, it’s their natural aesthetic. The only downside? We wished the wedding video could have been longer because it left us wanting more – just like the day itself.

Sherwin and I met as coworkers back in 2014 and remained friends even after we both left the company. It was that same friendship that led us to working together again in present time. So of course, nothing could make this more special than seeing someone I’ve worked alongside closely for years get married! It was a perfect day in Winters, California. The venue itself was flawless serving all aspects of the day with four designated areas in one: ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dance party. I haven’t seen a better transition from one area to another in any other wedding that I’ve attended.

In addition to their Winters wedding, Anji and Sherwin also had a ceremony in China. This juxtaposition within the wedding video of merging these two events is one of my favorite parts and a nice addition given that many of their friends and family didn’t get to see this part since it was kept small.

Honestly, my commentary of this wedding doesn’t do it any justice. Instead, here’s a nice feature of it from the Park Winters [wedding blog] that is worth reading/viewing from start to finish!

Wedding Mondays

It’s been a little bit quiet on the “Wedding Mondays” front and there’s a perfectly good reason for that. In a way, we’ve sort of outgrown wedding videos! Don’t worry; I was as shocked as you when I discovered this revelation in myself too. Here’s how I got to this point though. When you’ve been watching wedding videos on a consistent basis for this many years, you’ve seen them all. When I first started this series, I would watch a handful and love every single one. Back then in 2009-2010, having a wedding videographer wasn’t as popular because it was another expense. As more and more vendors come onto the scene, I find myself identifying with very few.

More often times than not, I will start a video and within seconds, I know I don’t want to finish it. It’s not because I know it won’t be good, but because I know how it will end. Those aren’t the videos that I want to see anymore and of course, I want to stress that this is in no way meant to be disrespectful to a) couples or b) the videographers who have made a living out of this. But at the end of the day, I do decide what I want to post.

For Yow Yow! though we’ve just outgrown this tradition that we’ve known grown to love. I know this doesn’t come as a surprise because the time in between from every last “Wedding Mondays” post would start to stretch even longer. From time to time, there will be a video that I’ll come across and want to post, but it just feels like the right time to sunset this series. Don’t worry; I still love them. I still want every friend of mine to have a wedding video no matter what.

I chose this one today because it was, in my eyes, different! I love seeing shots of Europe and destination weddings mostly because I have never been to Europe myself. The detail shots completely make this and the bride’s headpiece was a scene stealer for sure. To view the entire post on Style Me Pretty click [here]

Wedding Mondays

Think we can keep Wedding Mondays going regularly again? I’m headed to my first one of the year at the end of the month and I’ve got weddings on the brain. It looks like it might be a light year for me, which just means that I’ve got more love to share at the two that I’m attending. Jen and Jeremy’s wedding video is a breath of fresh air. I queued up more than a handful yesterday and this was the first one right out of the gate. It’s certainly not like any other wedding video we’ve seen and it was elegant and simple in its own way.

Wedding Mondays

It’s hard to not love a wedding video that doesn’t start out with this kind of energy! Benedetta and Jeff exude this very free-spirited love that is infectious. Also, how can you not love a video that features their son?! I’ve been holding onto this wedding video for some time now, but knew that it would be a favorite when I saw it. I’m very excited to be able to share this with you all this evening and hope that it kicks off your week right.

Wedding Mondays

Our Topanga may not have ended up with Cory Matthews, but she did get her fairytale ending with her husband Jensen. I’m well aware that Danielle Fishel is not her character, but watching this still felt like an extension of her life! Danielle and her husband Jensen married in Los Angeles amongst their friends and some of her former co-stars. Sabrina Carpenter who played her the best friend of her on-screen daughter was even one of her bridesmaids!

The two married held their wedding at the beautiful Carondelet House. As if the wedding wasn’t enough of a show stopper with all of the details, John Mayer sang their first dance song.

For all of the details and more, you can view their wedding [here] at Green Wedding Shoes.

Wedding Mondays

As weddings continue to grow more and more expensive, the rise in elopements among my friends are increasing. Personally, two of my closest friends have already opted for very small weddings with a third confessing to me that she’d elope just last week. When you watch a wedding video like this though, it’s not hard to see why this route is attractive. There is so much to love in a wedding video like this one – stunning views of Santorini and the most beautiful slip wedding dress I’ve ever seen.

[Chris and Ruth] did an amazing job with this one.

This all white look is absolute perfection. For all of their wedding details and more, click here for their feature on [Green Wedding Shoes.]

Wedding Mondays

I’m so excited to bring this back. It has been two months that we’ve let Wedding Mondays just slip right on by and tonight I’m giving myself a little bit of work life balance by breaking up my evening. For my career, it’s easy to find ways to work when I’m not doing anything or if I don’t have plans. It can send me down the rabbit hole for hours at times, but this week we’re practicing some self care. I left work a little earlier than usual tonight and headed to my CorePower class. From there, I cut down on time by eating dinner at work and then returning home for an hour of work emails before dedicating the rest to Yow Yow! If only we could practice this every night.

I had my last weddings back in the summer, but am now looking forward to 2019 where I know I’ll have at least one in March. Holiday season is just around the corner though so maybe we should start taking bets on how many new engagements there will be. Would you believe that I’ve been holding onto this wedding video since July?! There’s a few more in the queue actually, but I love this video for all of the details that were highlighted. As much as you can say rain on a wedding day is good luck, it’s not actually what any couple ever wants. This couple rolled with the punches and honestly the details of their day are so good, nothing else matters.

Wedding Mondays

Wedding Mondays is still my favorite way to kick off a week. I was discouraged from even posting today because I sat near a group of men at lunch who expressed some strong hatred for weddings. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. And even though it was a huge damper, I came home and remembered how much I loved this video. What can I say? The song makes everything.
On top of that, what makes this wedding video even more special is that it comes from the first wedding video vendor I ever loved – Shark Pig. In it, you’ll find their signature vintage-y spin on it, but you’ll also see a lot of modern elements.
These crystal pumps!

Wedding Mondays

Happy Labor Day everyone! I hope you all had a restful and relaxing weekend. Having recently started a new job and taking a month off beforehand, it was tough to jump right back into it. I’m grateful that I had a long weekend to help with the ease of this. Right before starting work, I went to not one, but two back-to-back weddings. They were both in the Bay Area which meant two things a) I got to experience more of the place I get to call home and b) I didn’t have to travel far to celebrate my friends.

Tonight’s wedding Monday is also another San Francisco wedding! I’ve been following Nikki on Instagram for some time and have always admired her style. Her feed is full of looks we want to emulate and of course, #travelgoals. I recently watched her entire Instagram story outlining the details of her wedding from her invitations, to her looks, to the venues that she used and each one was chosen with such intent. The video highlights a beautiful day with an extremely loving couple. I’m pretty sure this video doesn’t even do their day justice, but we couldn’t not feature it.
