Itunes changes their pricing

Because stealing songs are illiegal and don’t you forget it! Apple has decided to increase the pricing of popular songs from their usual $0.99 to $1.29. Can you imagine paying that much for a song? … “There are starving children everywhere!” Apple has said that there are three options for the payments of songs: $0.69, $0.99 and $1.29 but it won’t be Apple that chooses the pricing based on popularity (that’s just dumb) it will be the record companies that will decide.

I don’t want to get into my opinion about the whole paying for music thing because truthfully it is a complicated business. But I am content with the way I acquire my music. Also can I just say that back in 1995, I was five years old and Kevin was 11 and when we didn’t feel like buying CD’s because of the one popular song we loved, we would toss in that cassette and hit the record button when the song began on the radio and the stop when it ended to listen to our music.

It was more intense than you think and in fact required a great deal of skill.

I guess that makes my tracks a bargain at only $0.99.

Pricing it based on popularity would be pretty interesting. It would have effectively been a price increase, since most people buy the popular songs, but at the same time it would reward customers with niche tastes.

Off topic: You switched blog themes! Not sure if I like it better. In this post the text got shoved into a skinny column–doesn’t look that great.

Dear Raphael, thank you for your opinion on the new blog theme. I, however, am very happy with this look.
