Dear Jack

Someone once asked me if I distinguished music from personality within a band or artist. Would I still listen to a band if I knew they were complete assholes or would I listen to music created by musicians who genuinely care about what they do and are both hardworking individuals and also as a group? I never really knew how to answer that question. To me music is music. The music comes first, everything else is secondary. I like some songs, I don’t like others.

Then there are artists like Andrew McMahon of Jack’s Mannequin. There are artists that you will come to admire and respect and for me, Andrew is one of them. Andrew was making great progress w/ Jack’s Mannequin and they were about to take off. Three months before the release of “Everything in Transit,Andrew was forced to cancel all of his tour dates when he had been feeling ill. He had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. “Dear Jack” documents Andrew’s journey from the day he was diagnosed “… and continues on through the life-changing and intensely personal events that follow.”

The Dear Jack DVD will be released November 3rd.
