True Life: I can’t Disconnect

is MY life?

Blame it on technology right? It’s not my fault that my crackberry is capable of doing all the things I never imagined it could do. While I find that is difficult for me to disconnect sometimes, I know that I am not the only one suffering.

The other day Max and I were having a heart-to-heart when I consciously touched my phone just to check the time and immediately he shot back at me, “Put your phone down.” I did as I was told. “Now flip it over so you can’t see the screen.”

It’s not that I can’t be away from my phone. I can. I would just prefer to hold it in my hand (to make sure it’s safe) It gives me some kind of comfort  knowing that it will distract me when trying to avoid an awkward moment. It could be texting, imputing something into my calendar, writing down a note, giving an “oh I’m sorry, I’m running late!”

The most embarrassing thing is probably when more than one person starts to notice that you can’t disconnect. Before class today, I was having lunch w/ Nick and Stephen and when I got up to leave, Nick snatched my phone from off of the table and said, “She won’t leave without this!”
