Juicy Founders Leave w/ a Not So Sweet Exit

The two women responsible for the brand Juicy Couture are hanging up their crowns. Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy have decided to step down as creative directors. They first founded the brand back in 2003, but later then sold it to Liz Clairborne in 2008. Not willing to part with the brand at that time, the founders decided to stay on as creative directors. According to Fashionista, they received a statement this morning from the CEO Bill McComb,

“There will soon be a new creative director—Nash-Taylor and Skaist-Levy will transition into creative consultant roles. “This transition is in keeping with the plan we made when I came to Liz Claiborne three years ago,” said McComb. “At that time, the Juicy founders were concluding their initial four-year contract, and I was thrilled that they agreed to another three years with the express understanding that their final year would be as creative consultants.”

Bummer… I’m surprised they stayed in this long what with their careers almost being over with the invention of the Juicy sweatsuits… worst. idea. ever.

On another note, let’s not forget that Juicy does produce well-made clothing, sweatsuits aside!

Let the models do what they do best

Why is it that whenever models and celebrities are seen wearing certain pieces of clothing, we feel inclined to buy the exact same thing? Is it because it looks amazing (or better) on them, and we would like to be seen in that same light? Probably. I’ve never bought anything from eBay before, but recently someone tried to auction off their Marc Jacobs top. Instead of the typical shirt sprawled out on the carpet of your floor, like I’ve seen many many timesbefore, they inserted a picture of THE Gemma Ward wearing the shirt herself. It’s not the exact shirt being sold, but it is still the same shirt.

Even if I did buy clothing online, I would most likely buy it if I saw it on a celebrity first than if I had seen it on a carpeted ground with terrible lighting. Just saying.

Unfriend y/n?

Every now and then I’ll be on Facebook skimming through my newsfeed when something catches my eye for more than two seconds. It’s a “friend” of course, but technically I haven’t talked to this person in months, years? I don’t know anything about their life currently, so I start to ask myself, “Why exactly am I friends with this person?”

Other times, I’ll realize I have way too many of these types of people in my friends list. At this point, I go through the entire list and start deleting people. In a way, it’s sort of like saying… I’m taking you out of my life and preventing you from browsing everything into my life. Seriously, if you think about it, there’s a lot you can learn about someone by just being friends with them on Facebook. You know who they talk to, who they’re friends with, contact info, etc. I have to wonder…if I don’t talk to you, why do you want to be my “friend?” I decided to ask my REAL friends in REAL life and on Facebook this question:

Have you ever deleted a friend off Facebook and why?

“Yes I have, but only after I accept them and realize I don’t know who they are. Usually I just hide people I don’t want to see from my feed.”

“No I haven’t and because I can’t bring myself to do it…in some way we had a good memory so I don’t want to take that one last connection away from it.”

“Yeah, cause I didn’t really know them and because I’ve had frienships end so I’ve deleted people then.

Twelve by Twelve

Forever 21’s come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Actually more specifically they come in different colors, brands, and styles. Forever 21 is on their way to ending every “fast fashion” brand out there. One of the reasons why is Twelve by Twelve.

A few months ago, I went to their store at Northgate Mall and was absolutely blown away by the set up of their store. Believe me, set up goes a long way. They had different sections for different styles whether you were hardcore on gray denim and leather, or girly with lace and cream colored blouses. They had an area for shoes. They had a noticeable sales area, jackets portion and a section for going out clothes. It made things easier for me because I knew where to look if I needed something. This Forever 21 also has an area for Twelve By Twelve.

If you didn’t know that Forever 21 had sub-brands then you would think that they all blended together and weirdly… but Twelve By Twelve caters to a very specific design. They are still decently priced, but you can tell that there was definitely some more time and creativity spent behind the clothes. Many of the pieces look like something that would be a an imitation of a red-carpet worthy outfit or something off of the runway. They have done a good job of pulling from current trends. Here are some of my favorites:
