AMC Crime drama set in Seatte – not filmed in Seattle

I don’t know why it is, but I get so pumped when I hear of television series or movies filming in Seattle. The idea of it is exciting to me! I’m sure that’s how most people feel when something big comes to their hometown – except for Hollywood. That is as likely as rain is in Seattle.

The same network that brought you Mad Men, AMC,  is creating a new crime drama set in Seattle. “The yet-to-be-titled crime drama “is based on the wildly successful Danish television series ‘Forbrydelsen’ and tells the story of the murder of a young girl and the subsequent police investigation,”

The cast and title for the show have not yet been released, but the filming will begin in Vancouver this fall. The show is set to be released sometime in 2011.

Allsaints Spitalfields

It’s been a long time since I have taken a stroll through downtown Seattle’s shopping district. I didn’t even know the London-based retailer Allsaints Spitalfields was replacing Coldwater Creek and that news broke out back in May! I never stepped foot into the old Coldwater Creek because that store wasn’t really for me, but the space is huge. Allsaints will cover 13,600 sq ft. area and will focus on men, women, and children’s wear.

Shall we take a peak at what’s to come?

um. YES because you know if it’s coming from London it’s going to be awesome. This store is going to be beautiful.

Calvary Harness Maxi Dress – $730

Devo Mini Dress – $490

Odin Zip Funnel – $60

Input Questions

How would you like to see Yow Yow! expand?

I have been asking myself this question for awhile now and I don’t want to make any changes without thinking them through. I’m halfway to Yow Yow’s 2nd birthday and I would really love to have my own customized layout. The truth is I’m never going to be satisfied with any of the layouts here on WordPress except for this one. Believe me, I have tried. If I’m going to customize the layout myself, I may want to hire someone, but I want to make sure that I love it.

Also, I’m trying to post as much as I can right now until I start school again because once it starts up this blog is going to take a back seat. No more 12+ posts a day.

Again, thank you everyone for continuing to read the blog. It’s been a great experience so far!

Thanks

The girl that has no name

Seattle University students, do you recognize this girl? The girl wearing the backpack is a girl that is nameless to all of us, but we know her as being the face of My SU. For some reason, she is just so  happy about being a student and no one knows why. The first time I saw her not on the Seattle U page was on some random website where the domain no longer existed. How is it possible that standard Seattle U girl is on another website other than ours?!

Can you imagine having your picture plastered on various websites as the generic no-name-girl or boy?

Above is the work of Parker Ito who entitled his piece “The Most Infamous Girl in the History of the Internet.”

Nicely done sir.

Pinch Me – For A Second I liked Katy Perry

A little over a month ago, I was driving in the car flipping through radio stations when I came across a pretty catchy lyric, “I might get your heart racing in my skin-tight jeans be your teenage dream tonight. Let you put your hands on me in my skin-tight jeans be your teenage dream tonight.” I thought, this is pretty catchy… I can get into this!

Imagine my reaction when I found out the song was sung by none other than Katy Perry. If you’ve been following the blog for awhile, you know how I feel about Katy Perry and what I thought of her performance at Bumbershoot last summer. [post here]

I couldn’t just stop liking this song though because I genuinely enjoyed it. I tried to justify it by telling myself that I was a fan of the song before even knowing that Katy Perry had sung it. When I brought this up to my best friend last night she said,

“Can’t you tell that California Girls and Teenage Dream are the same song? They have the same beat.”

…Ohhh

I hate that song California Girls.

Oxford English Dictionary No More

The Oxford English Dictionary has announced this week that they will no longer release print editions. They will only be available online like most dictionaries are these days. It’s a little sad isn’t it? Before there was dictionary.com I always used a dictionary to look up definitions as a kid. Could this be the beginning of the end? Will all books cease to exist as the internet continues to take over? Even though I don’t have much time to read books these days, there is something that I love about physically holding a book to read it. I’ll never resort to reading a book online because I think it puts too much strain on my eyes and I certainly do not want to have a book read to me using a tape either. What do you guys think?

Dicks Drive in to open new location

After 36 years, Seattle’s famous Dick’s Drive In will finally be opening a new location. Dick’s currently has four locations – Queen Anne, Lake City Way, Capitol Hill, Wallingford, and Holman Road. Before they decide where the new location will be set, they would like input from their fans. They’re searching for a location inside the Seattle area and outside of the Seattle area, but no more than 20 miles out. Voting is…somewhere on their website.

Bliss Spa Special

If you’re on the quarter system, go back to school looking refreshed and rejuvenated. No one wants to come back with dead dry skin hanging off their face do they? [Yeah, how’d you like that visual?] But seriously, guys and girls you deserve it after the eventful summer you’ve had.
