MTV is hoping to start up a new award show called the OMA’s that will recognize music collaborations with art, technology, and social media on April 28th.
As of right now we have no idea what the categories will be or what the “O” stands for. I think the network is just using this award show as an excuse for more shitshow moments. It’s a little bit unnecessary, but if it were to be done, it should be on another network – not MTV.
“We think this space now needs an award show,” said Dermot McCormack, head of MTV Music Group digital. “We think we’re fairly well qualified to come up with a way of rewarding achievement in these new categories.”
