The History of “Planking”

Last night, a few of my friends took 20 minutes out of their homework time to “plank” all over Seattle University’s campus. As I perused through the photo album on Facebook, I thought to myself, “Oh that’s cute… lol. planking through bike racks.” I didn’t really think too much of it because when you’re trying to get out of doing homework and procrastinating, you will literally do just about anything. To me, it made perfect sense.

This morning, one of my friends involved in the planking deed last night informed me that a 20-year old guy had actually died while attempting to plank by lying down on a railing seven stories high. Granted, he was intoxicated, but still. As important as it is to tell you all to not do anything stupid, I think it’s also important to recognize the dangers of one-upping.

When planking turns deadly, no one can have any fun anymore.

Why is this called “The History of Planking” when there is no history addressed in the writing?

I just didn’t really feel like calling it anything else. Relevant titles aren’t all that important to me sometimes

      Hi Michelle,

Thanks for the concern, but this professional looking picture was taken on the cell phone of one of my friends who was involved and if they felt inclined to have credit given to them, I’m sure they would’ve said something to me already.
      Good lookin’ out.

      Hi Christine,

You’re right! There’s definitely no history within this post and that’s just because I sometimes feel that my titles don’t need to directly related to the content.
