Expired Food

Let’s talk about it. Yesterday, I went to the grocery store to buy myself butter because earlier that day I realized that my butter had been expired for three months. I bought that back in September and you may be thinking to yourself six months to utilize four sticks of butter is more than enough time. However, I didn’t exactly realize until part way through that butter could be substituted for oil in some situations so my usage in butter was not as great as it should have been.

Basically, I’ve been eating expired butter for the past three months. What that has done to my body, I cannot even begin to tell you because I have no idea. Now, as I sit here at my desk from work, I find myself in this questionable predicament once again eating expired trail max. Trail mix expiring is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I’m going to continue to eat my expired trail mix and stick it to the man.

There are some things that I won’t eat past its expiration date: eggs, milk, yogurt, other dairy products, but trail mix is not one of them and clearly butter isn’t either. Am I doing my body more harm than good? What sorts of things will you eat expired?

  1. It kills me to throw away good produce, so usually I try to cut out the rotten/moldy bits to salvage the rest, but my friends think that’s gross!
