Trend to Try: Shirts Turned Skirts

This morning, I woke up and decided that maybe I didn’t feel like throwing on my usual go-to outfit of cardigan and jeans. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about that classic style and all, but summer in Seattle is the one time where you get to actually be creative. Once winter rolls around (beginning in fall and lasting through spring) every outfit is hidden underneath some big burly coat or jacket. Instead, I pulled up some inspiration that I had found the other day perusing my favorite Free People blog in which one of their employees at their home office turned their over-sized shirt into a lovely little skirt!

All you have to do is button up the shirt halfway starting from the bottom, step into it, and tie the sleeves around your waist towards the front (but not sloppy like Kurt Cobain.) I started to realize that this was a bad idea from the get go once I started contemplating the idea because the shirt that I decided to try out was a sheer blouse from Urban. BIG mistake. Even bigger mistake to consider wearing that outfit to work. So I took it off straight away and thought – okay maybe next time. Maybe next time the shirt will actually be over-sized and not sheer. Even though it didn’t work for me, it could work for you so give it a try and let me know how it goes! Post pictures whatever because I wanna see how it’s actually done right! Meanwhile, I’ll make a trip to the thrift store so I can make a second attempt soon.

I actually didn’t go through with it for fear that I would be too indecent out in public. Yes – I go to school in Seattle.
