Cathedrals – Concert Series at St. Mark’s

Since summer has come and gone already, it looks like we won’t be seeing any outdoor shows in Seattle for about nine more months. Sad day. However, we all know that music doesn’t stop in Seattle ever and especially now when everyone seems to be doing incredibly well! The Fremont Abbey Arts Center announced a new concert series that will begin on Saturday, October 1st and instead of being in a typical Seattle music venue, these shows will be held within the St. Mark’s Cathedral. The concert series organizers have asked a number of musicians and artists from the Seattle area to be a part of this service to share both their music and their stories.

Artists include:

·       Bryan John Appleby (solo)

·       Mark Pickerel (Screaming Trees)

·       Mychal Cohen & Melodie Knight (Campfire OK)

·       Grant Olsen (Gold Leaves/Arthur & Yu)

·       The Gundersen Family (Noah + Abby, Le Wrens)

·       Nouela Johnston (People Eating People)

The audience will still be encouraged to bring blankets, pillows and welcome to use the space to their liking. It will be a time of quiet reflection and introspection. While the artists will not be singing the traditional songs the space is accustomed to (this is not a religious event), we’re hoping the audience will be able to take a breath from their busy lives and the typical rock show vibes to find peace in the lyrics and melodies of the performers.

Oh my goodness. These sound like a series of beautiful events! I can’t even imagine what this might look like, but I would love to be a part of it. The lineup for the first event is already pretty impressive, which means it can only get better from here for future events in the series. Advanced tickets through Brown Bear will be sold for $10 while day of door tickets will be $15.
