Designers Carving Pumpkins

[Chrissie Morris]

Designers have the ability to transform visions and fabric into beautiful clothes, but do they have the skills to carve a pumpkin? It’s kind of the same thing, isn’t it? Check out the others at the source below.

Happy [Almost] November!

Whenever I get ready to change my header, I always think that I have some sense of an idea of what it’s going to include. I try to stay true to the months, but that just didn’t happen this time. In my head, I thought about the events that were going on…Fall Ball… transitioning into winter…school. All I saw in my head was glitter and sparkles and even though this header doesn’t have either, I still found that when I look at it, I’m reminded of those things.

How was everyone’s Halloween weekend?!

I can’t believe we’re already at the end of this month. I spent this past weekend missing out on all of the Halloween festivities here, but I did get to have this amazing opportunity and experience by embarking on a leadership retreat for one of my classes. This wasn’t my first retreat, but it was my first time going with people that were absolutely required to go without the option of opting out. I can definitely say that I’ve never gone through a retreat quite like this one in terms of how far you are stepping outside of your comfort zone and in regards to what I thought I would NEVER ever do on an academic retreat despite being 21. I’m glad that I was able to check this off my list before graduating.

By the way, you know you are a management major when ice breakers get turned into certain types of games.

In October, we are saying goodbye to retreats, nostalgic memory-infused concerts, rock star alumnus events, the end of Casual: The Series, The Buried Life boys and my first spontaneous audio/video interview. With November we welcome, Fall Ball, midterms,  and a community service opportunity that I am extremely excited to be a part of with some pretty amazing people that I spent the last weekend with.This month from Yow Yow! you’ll be getting a transcribed interview from the guys of The Buried Life and hopefully more potential interviews and some projects that I am working on.

Thanks for sticking around! By the way – we reached 700K the other day  – yayayaya!

Mat Kearney Performs In-Flight Concert

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IakGe8w4ckI&feature=player_embedded]

After picking up the guys at the airport yesterday, I came to the conclusion that I absolutely love. airports. It’s one of the few places that you can see people from all walks of life. That makes it sound like their species or something. Other people hate it I’m sure, but you know even though it might be as germ-infested as a DMV, it is still a much better environment to be in. I was telling Patrick this in the car that I loved airports so much because I’ve always been able to just converse with people there easily. He told me I didn’t fly enough. Yesterday, I met an older fellow that was there to pick up his fiance’s daughter and I explained to him the story behind my sign and who I was picking up. After that, it was two limo drivers who taught me how to stand around and wait for arrivals and the correct angle for me to be holding a sign at. Then they sassed me when I had my doubts.

“Are you sure I’m supposed to be standing in front of the escalators? How do you know that this Alaska’s flight comes up from this direction and not over there?”

“You’re really asking us this? How many times do you think we’ve done this?”

There may have been some other conversations about picking celebrities up and me getting set up with one of the limo driver’s nephews – a new Cal Poly freshman. It’s cool – limo driver speak – you know I’m all about that now.

Anyways – Mat Kearney did an in flight concert recently. This has probably gotta be one of the coolest stories they will ever tell their grandchildren, right?
