Facebook Timeline

Do you love it? Do you hate it?

After much consideration, I decided to take the plunge tonight. A few of my friends have been accepting the new layout over the last couple days and after perusing their new profiles, I thought I would try it out. It wasn’t easy, I swear. I must have been sitting here for a good five minutes watching the video above and reading the information and reviews about it before I clicked the button of no return.

I have come to the conclusion that I can no longer avoid when Facebook decides to make a change. It’s inevitable. It’s going to happen whether I like it or not and I can complain about it all I want and say that it is an inconvenience or whatever it might be to me at the time, but the truth of the matter is that Facebook will continue to update itself every year. It did last year too. The first step of anything is acceptance, right?

What I learned about myself is that I was a very angsty teenager. From reading my old statuses in high school, I was someone that was constantly stressed, tired, and hungry. And in fact, these feeling were so strong that I HAD to share it with all of my friends. I am glad to say that having had Timeline for the past three hours, those statuses have since been deleted.

No one needs to look back in 2007 to see that in March I was eating a sandwich. No one.

What I like about Timeline is seeing the actual timeline. I can look back and see myself experiencing senior year of my high school, prom, and moving to Seattle for college. I can see the old videos that my friends recorded on my wall and the statuses that can still make me laugh today. Obviously something funnier than eating a sandwich or being tired and stressed.

Am I going to regret deleting those angsty statuses? I wondered about that for a little bit because after all these are still emotions and even though it’s embarrassing, it’s exactly how I felt right then and there. What made me feel so stressed? What was I working on that made me feel tired? Then again, I didn’t share those details and the statuses became one word responses therefore unnecessary in the entire scheme of things.

What do you guys think of Timeline?
