2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet

Charlize Theron in Dior completely gets Yow Yow’s stamp of approval for being the best dressed on the red carpet last night. There was a whole lot of cream and ivory, but gosh the simplicity and elegance of this gown made me melt. The headband was also what sealed the deal for me.

Sarah Michelle Gellar in Monique Lhuillier

Did I think it was sweet that her daughter Charlotte picked out her dress for the evening? Of course I did. Did I love the dress? Not so much. It’s an artistic gown and beautiful – don’t get me wrong – I love the marbled hues of blue, but I would’ve loved to see Sarah Michelle “wow” us in something more fitting and with her hair down.

Zooey Deschanel in custom Prada

The gown was so-so to me. It wasn’t one that deserved a double-take, but it wasn’t awful either. It worked for Zooey. Can we all agree that her hair was not well-suited for the event though?

After a two-time green streak earlier this week, I was sure that we would’ve been 3-for-3 on the Golden Globes. No, I was actually excited to see her in this beautiful two-tone Lanvin gown. The Eagle belt is also a nice touch.

Dianna Agron in Giles

From the waist down, this dress is an absolute dream. The lace is mesmerizing. I could, however, do without the caged bodice at top. It’s a little bit overwhelming for my taste, but other than that, the dress is great.

via

Michelle Williams in Jason Wu

Perfect. This is very true to Michelle’s style. It is both elegant and sweet.

via

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace

I’ll be honest; this gown didn’t quite do much for me. I adored her long-sleeved green Versace gown at the 2011 Golden Globes and was hoping that this this year’s gown would be able to match it or at least top it.

via

Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci

Girl looks like a mermaid. Neither hate it or nor love it.

via

Amber Riley was glowing on the red carpet this evening! She looks gorgeous in Badgley Mischka.

via

Mila Kunis in Christian Dior

After being tapped to be in Dior’s latest campaign, it should come as no surprise that the starlet chose to wear the designer to the Golden Globes. This look is fitting for Mila’s style and fits her perfectly.

via

Natalie Portman in Lanvin

Oh dear…this Black Swan could have d one much better. These look like the traditional type of dresses that girls would wear to a prom or a homecoming dance. For the Golden Globes, I expected much more from Natalie.

via

Claire Danes in modified J. Mendel

Typically, this would not be a gown that I would feel drawn to, but I love how edgy it comes off. The open back is what affirmed it for me. She should really try this look more on the carpet, but next time, can she bring her hubby Hugh Dancy? He’s great too.

Viola Davis in custom Pucci

Stunning. The gold accessories were genius.

Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta

Usually not a fan of these types of gowns – but Tina Fey is so great that she can do whatever she wants.

Heidi Klum in Calvin Klein

While I love the combination of cream and turquoise together and how it reminds me of the nearing spring and summer, I could do with a little less collar.

Freida Pinto in Prada

You can’t see her necklace very well in this photograph, but it was by far – the best part of her entire outfit. The dress is nice, but I would’ve preferred her in something resembling Charlize Theron’s gown. Unfortunately, this Prada gown gives her no shape at all and makes her appear wider and younger than she actually is.

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang

Mermaid gowns usually make me wince, but I actually love this one! It was refreshing to see this shade of blue on the red carpet in a sea of creams and ivory, but this gown is probably the most flattering on her. I love it. The way the fabric fans out at the end and is intricately woven is exquisite.

Jessica Alba in Gucci

It’s nice. The details in this are incredible.

Elle Macpherson in Zac Posen

This was a whole LOT of dress. There was just too much going on for me to enjoy it.

Madonna in Reem Acra

This gown is magnificent. I couldn’t take my eyes off of it when I saw it in the Pre-Fall collections, but last night after seeing Madonna wearing it – all I could stare at were her ARMS! Gahhh. They are a scary sight sometimes, aren’t they? I know she also thought that she was adding to this dress by including those god-awful fingerless gloves, but I was not feeling it.

Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli

Flawless as always. No other comments needed.

George Clooney and Stacey Keibler in Valentino

Gorgeous!! These two make quite the pair.

Giuliana Rancic’s first dress until she changed into a cream one

Maria Menounos

Ariel Winters in Dolce & Gabbana

So jealous that this 13-year-old gets to wear D&G. This is adorable even down to her black bowed heels

Amanda Peet in Marc Jacobs

I was actually surprised to see her choose this gown for the Golden Globes. I expected something a lit boho from her. It’s a nice dress, but it doesn’t seem to fit in with the event.

Sarah Hyland in vintage Dolce & Gabbana

This is another one of my favorites! Sarah Hyland is a star on the red carpet and definitely knows her stuff when it comes to choosing the right gowns for the right events. I’m a sucker for lace and this dress is covered in it – therefore using logic…I think we all know where I’m going with this one.

Shailene Woodley in Marchesa

I am so glad that someone wore this dress to the Golden Globes! I’ve been rooting for it ever since I saw it in the collections and the detail in it is just amazing.

Lea Michele in Marchesa

…no thank you.

Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen

This woman has never really been a red carpet offender. She looks fabulous and managed to dress up that gown nicely.

Jessica Biel in Elie Saab Couture

At first, I thought it was just the gown that seemed off, but no – it’s Jessica Biel. The gown on the runway is magnificent. Unfortunately for Jessica Biel, Elie Saab wore her last night.

Kate Winslet in Jenny Packham

Very pretty gown, but I can’t help but imagine this with short sleeves or cap sleeved instead of a split.

Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann

She always know how to make masculine outfits on the red carpet look feminine and that to me is impressive.

Jessica Chastain in Givenchy Haute Couture

I have been loving the high neck on gowns recently. I wish we saw it more!

Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci

Even though I have yet to see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, I know that her performance in it is nothing short of amazing. Since promoting for this film, Rooney has really taken on the role of her character donning black gowns with an edge and rawness about them. This gown is just an example of that with the caged bodice locked in with black bows. It’s gorgeous and I would like one for myself please.

François Henri-Pinault with Salma Hayek, in Gucci

Pure glamour. This dress looks awesome! The jewelry is stunning and the ombre hair works perfectly with the rest of the outfit.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban both in Versace

Now we all know my opinion on Versace gowns being somewhat unwearable, but Nicole Kidman has just proved me wrong. She also tops my list as being one of the best dressed from last evening in this stunning studded gown.

Kristen Wiig in Bill Blass

As much as I can’t stand Kristen Wiig’s humor, there is no denying that this gown is beautiful as is. It was one of the more simpler gowns of the evening, but the knot twist in the middle has done a nice job of pulling it all together.

Leonardo DiCaprio in Giorgio Armani

Julianna Marguiles in Naeem Khan

WHY!! As fitting as this dress may be, I’ve always seen the Golden Globes as an event to show off. Miss Marguiles is completely covered! Not worst dress – but definitely not best dressed.

Mary J. Blige in Michael Kors

Yaya high neck!

Laura Dern in Andrew Gn.

Oh hello Angelina circa 2011. This version is just as pretty.

Nicole Richie in Julien Macdonald

She’s so tiny, but she gives hope to other petite women in the world that they can wear floor length gowns. I’m so glad that someone chose to wear Julien Macdonald to the event last night because it’s not a red carpet without him.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji

Congratulations to Octavia on her big win last night for supporting actress in a comedy/musical!

Josh Brolin in Dolce & Gabbana and Diane Lane in Reem Acra

I was crossing my fingers hoping that someone would wear this gown! I’m glad it got picked up;  it is breathtaking.

Paula Patton in Monique Lhuillier

Winner for most enthusiastic attendee of the evening. Pretty gown, but I would have loved to see a sparkly belt added to this. Robin Thicke, where you at?

Amy Poehler in Naeem Khan. Same as Tina Fey’s comments.

Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen

Nice to see someone went for the shoulders trend this year even though it was very much last year’s trend.

Jonah Hill in Simon Spurr

Jane Lynch in David Meister

This is her signature. Clearly it works!

Madeleine Stowe in custom Vera Wang

I wanted her to win so badly last night for her role on Revenge!

Melissa McCarthy in Badgley Mischka

Love the embellished neckline.

Matthew Morrison in Dolce & Gabbana

Emma Roberts in Zac Posen
