Sweet Makeups From Enemies

Hugs really can solve anything, can’t they? This sweet series by Berlin designer and illustrator Ingrid Aspöck can make anyone’s heart melt. While many of us know that there may never be a happy ending for some of these pairings, those of us who wish for one can just imagine this as an alternative instead. One Year Ago Today

– We admired Elie Saab’s 2011 Spring Couture Collection

– Dan Savage was reportedly getting a television show w/ MTV…

– We wished the Vera Project a happy 10th birthday! Now they are 11!

– The Song of the Day was Leighton Meester’s Summer Girl from Country Strong. I probably won’t ever see the movie, but I do love this song.

– H&M announced that they would be launching an e-commerce store in the US for 2012!

– We viewed a collection of posters that gave us no reason to watch the movies at all.

– The first Oscar promo video featuring James Franco and Anne Hathaway was released. We had high hopes for that, but unfortunately the entire show just let us down.

– These 175 photos taken at night look like they were taken in plain daylight!

– I reviewed The Pierces’ Love You More EP – the duo behind the Pretty Little Liars theme song.

Bye Bye Flora and Henri

Earlier this morning, Capitol Hill Seattle reported that Flora and Henri would be closing their doors on January 31, 2012. Flora and Henri is a children’s boutique located on 11th and Pine. While I never had a reason to shop there, that has never actually stopped me from stepping inside for a visit to swoon at all of the adorable little pieces.

I’m actually really sad to hear them go especially because they’ve had such a presence on how I’ve viewed the Capitol Hill neighborhood since I’ve lived here. They’ve always been next to Molly Moon’s and it’s the shop that I get to walk by on my way to the park. Additionally, I’ve gotten to introduce the boutique to Gelesia and my friends and I were once accused of eating the ice cream of other kids outside of the boutique.

That never happened, I swear. It was a very bizarre story.

Flora and Henri will continue to operate out of their studio downtown and assist customers through appointments.

You’ll be missed!

In Places I Would Like To Live In Today

Even though I have never stepped foot into this city, there is something that I find extremely charming about the homes in New York City. On the verge of graduation, it seems a little unrealistic for a poor college student like me to pick up and move right away, but someday I hope I can call a place like this my home – at least for a little while.

This brownstone found in Brooklyn is catching some buzz because it is only 12ft wide. After taking a look at the pictures, the size of the width doesn’t even seem to look like as small as it really is. Much of the interior was designed and placed strategically in order to maximize space.

Here are some of my favorite shots of the interior below:

The Row Prepares to Expand

WWD reported this morning that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen of The Row have hired François Kress as the brand’s President and Chief Operating Officer. Kress is currently the President and CEO over at Prada USA Corp. The 25-year-old sisters are definitely taking steps in the right direction to expand The Row into a major luxuary brand by working with Kress and creating this new position for him within their company.

Along with The Row, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are also responsible for their fashion company Elizabeth and James and affordable line Olsenboye. The Row has produced some truly exquisite pieces in the last couple of seasons including their sleek floor length dresses and upscale basics. This news makes me excited to see what direction they are headed for next alongside Kress.
