Alexander Wang Home Decor

photo cred | Alexander Wang

It’s always pretty exciting when a designer you recognize dives into something a little bit different than the norm. Whether it’s a capsule collection, Target collaboration, etc. as consumers we like to be in the know for what our favorite designers are planning next. By now, Alexander Wang has become a household name. Of course his collections are ones to be admired, but who could ever forget his darling little niece?! Aside from those two things, he has now decided to venture into home decor and summer accessories and if you didn’t know his name was tied to it in the first place, the collection literally SCREAMS Alexander Wang.

Everything is in signature Wang black.

Check out the rest of the collection here.

This Is The End – Redband Trailer

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=l5M7um6ZLNo]

This seemed fitting since tomorrow is supposedly the “end of the world.”

Stay safe out there y’all!

By the way, this movie won’t be out until the summer – but what an all-star cast amirite?!

What I Missed Not Watching Miss Universe Last Night

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nh4SiZXDMVo]

OH NOEZ!!!

She had a translator there to help her, but yet she chose to answer the question herself in English. I don’t think it was as horrendous as the “such as…” Miss South Carolina contestant from the Miss Teen USA, but it’s a close second.

COUNT EM’ 1, 2…60? 2012

Every December, I look forward to counting down my 50 favorite songs for the year. However, I’m on the Yow Yow 4th birthday train so I’m making it 60 tracks! The task has become a little easier for me this year because I haven’t added any new tracks to my iTunes library so the majority of the songs will be coming from my Spotify playlists and Yow Yow’s Songs of the Day!

There aren’t really any terms that I’ve set for the countdown, but since I run this – I pretty much decide what songs I want to be on the list and it is basically tied to one thing: They are songs that I’ve loved in 2012, but not necessarily released in 2012. And of course they are in no particular order. That’d be impossible!

Here are my favorite 60 songs of 2012:

1. The Shins – Simple Song

2. Brian Fennell – Perfect Time (Blue Eyes)

3. Apparat – Black Water

4. Michael Kiwanuka – I’m Getting Ready

5.  Lemaitre – Coffee Table

6. Big Time Rush – Music Sounds Better With You

7. Mesita – Living / Breathing

8. Bad Rabbits – Advantage Me

9. Brandon Flowers – Crossfire

10. Big Deal – Swoon

President Obama’s Four Years in Photographs

Photo Cred | Pete Souza

This apparently seems to be the photo of the day, but since I was away from Yow Yow! all day I am just now getting around to posting it. It’s appropriate because today President Obama was named Time’s Person of the Year 2012 and no one is more deserving enough for this title. It has been a difficult and challenging four years, but as a woman, a young adult, and a former college student, I am confident in saying that there is no one else that could have done this job better than him. He was the only candidate in my opinion that I believed had my best interests at heart. With that being said, this job and the person doing the job does not come without flaws.

Samantha and I once had a conversation about President Obama and the role of a President in general in which she had asked me if anyone has ever taken a before and after picture of a President at the start and end of his term.

“I bet you’d be able to see how much a President has aged in those four years due to all of the stress they’ve had and the responsibility they’ve taken on.”

And she’s right. There’s no before and after picture, but you can see it. You can even, at times, feel that President Obama has aged in the way he speaks. In addition to the interview and cover, TIME also featured 125 photographs of the President during his first term that Flavorwire has called both “adorable and heartbreaking.” You can view all of them here.

Christmas Wish List 2012

Every year, I always post a little Yow Yow! Christmas list. I thought I would have more “wants” this year, but I’ve got everything I need! It’s always just fun to have a little list of things that would be nice, but when it comes down to the holidays, good company is all I’m asking for.

Nordstrom Family Table Cookbook – $27.95

It’s been awhile since I’ve received another cookbook and I’m ready to do some work in the kitchen again!

Congratulations!

Congratulations Cassadee Pope

Yesterday evening, Cassadee became the winner of the third season of The Voice! And I’m sure other former scene kids, like myself, were thrilled. She performed alongside friends of mine back in the day while she was a part of Hey Monday and while I never had the chance to meet her, I knew many people just like Cassadee.

It is always so exciting to see someone “make it.” And I flip flop back and forth on this argument because the music snob in me has definitely expressed negativity when I have seen bands sellout, but then you have a case like Cassadee. Someone who has worked her way up and further developed her sound over the years. She left a band and went solo – that alone is difficult, but what’s great about The Voice (and probably every other reality music television series – but mainly The Voice) is that she worked her way through each round continuously improving and impressing all of us. Because her path has been so similar to my friends, I know what she’s gone through. It is the shows at all of the local venues and teen centers in every state. It’s performing at music festivals like Warped Tour to hundreds and also to audiences of just ten people. We never forgot about you Cassadee and as a teenager who loved shows and was one of those ten, thank you for treating us like we were a crowd of a thousand. Here at Yow Yow! – we are so proud of Cassadee and even though Yow Yow! is just run by me – when I say we – I mean Veronica and I.

Deciphering “To The Wonder”

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=csstykAOQKI]

Yes, I know Terrence Malick is something to be sort of impressed with especially given his previous work, but after watching this trailer, there’s not really much that I am gathering from this. Kevin sent me this trailer this morning with the following message:

“Holy shittttttttttttttttt”

“Olga and Rachel are in this.”

This is going to be freaking GOOOOOOD.”

I figured it was worth a watch, but I’m still not entirely sure what this synopsis is about
