In Case You Missed It

My Seattle Seahawks became the NFC West Champs yesterday!!!

I was up in the air flying my way back to the Bay when the game was happening, but when I arrived in Seattle just one week earlier, I could already tell that being back in Seattle was going to be a little different this time around. The energy was high. Everywhere I went, I was always seeing Seahawks gear. SEA-TAC airport could not stop shameless promoting and encouraging those flying on Alaska Air to root for our team. We’ve come a long way, but it’s time to make our way on down to the Super Bowl y’all! I cannot wait.

Wedding Mondays

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/75509991]

No, I haven’t forgotten that today is Monday and that there is supposed to be a wedding video. There’s no way that Jennie and Ashley would ever let me get away with that and I know so because Jennie snapchatted me that she was watching wedding videos and Ashley posted on my Facebook wall as a reminder. Every Monday, I am thinking about these two and when I select videos for this feature I’m keeping them in mind. Girls – you won’t be disappointed with this one. It brings me to near tears every time (but seriously, what wedding video doesn’t anymore?)

Every time I hear this song, I associate it to one of those Twilight movies which makes me not enjoy it, but Twilight aside – it’s a very sweet and romantic song and perfect for this couple’s story and wedding in Paris. Jenny wears two dresses in this video if I’m correct or one dress might just have a top overlay, but regardless – she styled it amazingly.

And here’s the accompanying post from Style Me Pretty!

Vice News: Coming in 2014

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMtz1xobvn4]

In my typical day, I never get a chance to watch the daily news. It makes it really hard for me to stay informed on international issues and also in a way is apparent to me that I’m just missing something completely important and relevant to my generation. Instead, I read a lot of puff pieces in the evening and that isn’t ideal. When I was introduced to the Vice series on HBO, it made my skin crawl and I was completely uncomfortable, but I loved it. It was raw and dangerous and refreshing for me to step outside of my own comfort zone for 30 minutes and be immersed in something that was very real for many people in the world. I’m really looking forward to Vice News.

Yow Yow’s Top 10 Posts of 2013

This is a pretty healthy mix that I am happy with. This is probably one of my favorite posts to compile every year because I am always so interested in seeing what readers are drawn to the most. I’m not able to get a whole lot of stats from WordPress or the stats that I mainly need, but I’m so thrilled to know that two of our interview posts were a top read this year. Working with both Hollis and Molly was  such a treat!

  1. Meet: Hollis Wong-Wear (Yes, this too is one of my favorite posts!)
  2. 2013 Golden Globe Awards
  3. 5 Reasons Why I Love the Mariners Bearded Cap
  4. Is Ballard Becoming the Next Capitol Hill?
  5. Emma Watson for GQ UK May
  6. U.S. Map of Highest Paid Public Employees in Each State
  7. 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target
  8. The Names of McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets
  9. Meet: Molly Young
  10. Coachella 2013 Street Style

Take Me There:

I recently left California for my Pacific Northwest home for the holidays and maybe this isn’t surprising to anyone at all who has left and returned home, but my perception of how I look at Seattle has completely changed. I now have come to the realization that being stuck in traffic in Seattle is nothing compared to what it is like in the Bay when I am driving 280 to get up to San Francisco. I appreciate the skyline in Seattle so much more as I’m driving into the city whereas when I lived here and was so used to that drive, I would never take a second to look to my right and see the Space Needle gleaming down at me. I think it’s one of the most gorgeous sights even though it is a tourist wallet eater. I am very much drawn to the lights of my city during my trip home this time around and if I could give it some sort of a theme, I would but for now I’m pretty happy that I have such a strong and vivid image of the skyline twinkling even if I’m not here.

These tunnel of lights above can be found in Japan though!

Sunny Levine ft. Young Dad – No Other Plans

I’ve watched Celeste and Jesse Forever several times and while I didn’t enjoy the movie, I’ve come to the realization that after watching it more than once I finally get it. It also took me until now to also appreciate the film’s soundtrack. Funny how that happens, right?

Favorites of 2013

Favorite Style Icon: Alexa Chung

This should really come as no surprise. Since Alexa Chung came into my life, I have always been a fan of her outfit choices. I noticed last year, I selected Taylor Swift, but really – Alexa blew her and everyone else out of the water in 2013. With her new book that we are dying to read and collections of hers popping up all over the place, we are looking forward to what she’ll be bringing to the table in 2014.

Runner up: Kiernan Shipka
