We’ve reached a consensus. The girls love Charlie. I have not come across anyone that has thought otherwise, but seriously how can you not love Charlie? If you’re not on this team, then there might be something wrong with you. Since the finale (last week,) I’ve spent several days working on this post – wondering what I would write about and how I could convey to all of you why Charlie is such a great character. There have been plenty of times where I have just decided that I love him more than any of the other Girls and characters on the show because of the apparent transformation and the depth that he has.

When we were first introduced to Charlie, he was the girl in the relationship. It was clear that Marnie wore the pants, but now – look at him! He went from being the pushover, to finding a rebound (like most normal people would,) to becoming a successful entrepreneur and then back to square one again. I don’t know a lot about relationships, but I love their story. I love that these two characters had to be confused and figure themselves out on their own before coming back together. Girls love Charlie because…we are Charlie – simply put. We are the ones that put everything out on the line and we love and we love and we love until we can’t anymore, but even after cold-hearted Marnie shot him down, he was still there. He’s always been there for her even when she was flailing and singing that horrid but awesome Kanye cover. We love Charlie because we get it and we’ve all been there before.

I’m not really sure what season 3 will hold for my favorite couple. There’s no way it can just be smooth sailing again, even though crossing our fingers we hope that the babies are on their way for them. Girls also love Charlie because we want a Charlie. Who wouldn’t?
