Future Home Want:

wall mounted table

In most homes that I have lived in, I’ve always been pretty space-conscious. I absolutely love this concept of a wall mounted table perfect for a quick meal – alternative to a dining table – or even a place where I can do my work. Would you believe that this piece, which is really like 1/4 of a table, cost $420?! I don’t, but yet I still want it.

Skins Season 7 – Teaser Pics

It’s baaaaaaack! When I was younger and watching the series, I could never watch Skins just straight from my television. I had to get creative. In fact – I was so creative that I can’t even remember how I watched the series now, but I’m going to have to say that I probably streamed it online. From somewhere…the unknown if you will. I wouldn’t take it back for anything though because Skins was my absolute favorite series and even though Effy was a little cray, I aspired to be her. Who didn’t? She was the manic pixie dream girl that everyone wanted to be. The Skins series 5 and 6 were kind of a hot mess and let’s not even get started on the MTV American version so I am thrilled that they are bringing back the originals. In Season 7, all of our favorites will be returning including Kaya Scodelario (Effy), Jack O’Connell (Cook), Hannah Murray (Cassie), Lily Loveless (Naomi), and Kat Prescott (Emily).

I couldn’t be more excited.

Wedding Tuesday?

Returning to work on a Tuesday had me confused for Wedding Mondays. Today, the Nordstrom Wedding Suite announced that a new batch of Vera Wang wedding gowns had arrived and of course I couldn’t help myself from taking a peek at the look book. Vera Wang is a popular designer for most brides and while I admire the designs, the volume, and the elegance, I’m not sure if my dream wedding gown will ever be found in her collections. Regardless, I have so much respect and adoration for the woman and even though most wouldn’t approve of a non-white wedding gown, I was actually drawn to this one. Check out the rest of the look book here.

This or That

This year, I recently stopped watching Glee – because let’s just be honest with ourselves here,  we have no idea what is going on with the show. If Lea Michele is not a full-time character and stuck in high school, then what are we watching the show for?  I’m not sure if the series is trying to mold itself like Degrassi right now by looping in new characters that are younger and transitioning them through high school, but it isn’t working. At least – it’s not working smoothly. I will, however, write this one last post about Glee. A couple summers ago, there was a show called “The Glee Project” in which normal kids that could sing and act, but mostly sing would compete for a chance on the show. One winner looked exactly like an Avatar character and therefore inspired one of my favorite Yow Yow! posts.

Sam – the Avatar look-a-like recently cut off his dreads and no longer looks like this. Now he looks like someone completely different, but someone told me that aliens could transform themselves…

Wanting To Be Liked

Hey readers!

Remember the post I did not too long ago about social media anxieties? It’s been on the brain recently because I have found that it has such an impact on the way we carry on with our lives and it is affecting us at a much younger age than we even realize.

While I was doing some research into sites like broadbandsearch.net, to find out more about the impact of social media in today’s society, I came across an interview today involving a 15-year old and her social media usage and it BLEW my mind.

I found that her answer to checking her Facebook in the morning is typically how I would answer that question and we are nearly 10 years apart.

However, when she describes what it means to have “likes,” I recognized what a problem this could be for her as she went on through life.

A “like” in the social media world equates to validation and while we all know validation is necessary for life whether it be from a significant other, from family, from friends, or even a workplace, I have to wonder – does a “like” in social media add up to it? Will it be enough for this girl? What happens when we aren’t liked enough?

Check out the interview here and please feel free to share your thoughts on it.
