“You Look Very Coachella Today”

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 preset

(ASTR dress, American Apparel pullover, mother’s belt, mother’s shoes, Forever21 headband)

It’s been awhile since we’ve had an outfit post sans Space Helmet, but we’re bringing it back! I don’t think I could have ever pulled this outfit off in Seattle during November, but luckily that’s just not an issue in the Bay. Inspired by an outfit I saw last night on Pinterest, I decided to pair together some of my favorite pieces, but that have never actually been worn together. The last time I wore this dress was when I was wine tasting up in Sonoma, but it’s a pretty perfect dress to wear for any summer wedding. Since I missed my chance, I was determined to find a way to make it into this season somehow. The story about how this dress came to be in my closet is quite interesting. I was shopping for a garden-party themed dress for my going-away, but I didn’t think that it was the most appropriate. While tribal boho chic, it didn’t scream garden party, especially because the garden party was going to be held in one of the most beautiful marquees that a friend of ours found via a specialist company, and whilst I loved the dress, I’m not sure how good it would’ve looked in the type of marquee that we would be expecting to see at the party. When I think about marquees, I instantly think glamour and in my heart of hearts, I’m not quite sure how this would’ve looked in this particular setting. I must have come back to this dress three-four times during my shopping trip because I couldn’t make up my mind, but ultimately I decided that if it didn’t work out for the party, it might for another occasion. I didn’t regret my decision!

Love the details on this tribal print and the lace detail on the front covered by my shirt – I’m sure we’ll see more of that come out in the spring/summer months.

Unfortunately, I’ve outworn these shoes to the point where I can’t even read the label at the bottom, but I’ve had these for nearly a year now and they are a pair that I feel I can wear with almost everything. They were also a gift from my mother, which probably adds to why I love them a little bit more than the rest. D’AWWWWW.

I snatched this belt away from my mom during college and even though I can only wear it high-waisted since it’s so itty bitty, I’m still keeping it in rotation. It’s also on the verge of breaking given the state of the belt, but until then – it’s still just as wearable!

So overall, there’s something off about each of my pieces, but it’s those little things that give it character, right? Thanks for being a great photographer Diana! And thanks to Jackson Mohsenin for the baller headline.
