Make An Ice Cream Pie

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/80115228]

If there’s one thing that I’ve been missing since I’ve made the big move down to the Bay Area, it’s being able to use my kitchen! Back in Seattle, I used to love grocery shopping for some of my favorite things to try out new Pinterest recipes. Kevin didn’t approve of any of them, but that’s okay because at least I was learning how to be a better cook even if I was just sucking. One of my favorite ice cream shops in Capitol Hill – Molly Moon’s – recently created this tutorial video on how to make an ice cream pie and I’m convinced that even a 5-year old could make this. It’s a simple, but delicious dessert!

Random Musings From the Weekend

  • Saw Catching Fire this weekend. Did anyone else think it was funny that Katniss was playing two guys?! What a slu—
  • Who knew so many pre-teen/teenage girls loved The Hunger Games? If I had a dollar for every gasp I heard in the theater when J. Law was making out with a different guy.
  • Also, just found out that Liam’s character’s name is Gale not Kale because I wanted to call him Kale Salad.
  • I’ve never wanted anything more in my life than this adorable Squishable right here.
  • The Southwest Salad at Trader Joe’s is the best salad on their roster.
  • Do people still take shuttles to the airport?
  • Is the age requirement to work at Brandy Melville only age 16?
  • This weekend I ate dinner at a restaurant with a club atmosphere. There’s always a first time…
  • Pitbull is not funny. Why is he hosting the AMA’s?
  • It’s a good thing that I’m only sticking through this for an hour so that I can watch The Walking Dead right afterwards.

Your 2013 Holiday Party Dress

Banana Republic Seamed Ponte Fit and Flare V-Neck Dress – $130

It’s that time of the year! For the first time ever, I’m attending a holiday party for my company and this time – it won’t be in some sketchy dive bar in the middle of nowhere. I can toss that horrible, ugly, and itchy Christmas sweater aside and put on my favorite new dress for the season. Of course, I don’t own one yet, but that’s why we’re on the hunt! I actually helped a co-worker of mine find her dress before I found one and it looks fabulous. Job well done. Now, here are some options for both you and I!

Bay Area Eats:

Known for being one of the best Ramen spots in the Bay Area, Orenchi’s in Santa Clara is a place that boasts many fans. When I first moved here, Kevin and I went to Orenchi’s one day underestimating its popularity. On the evening that we had went, the restaurant had run out of its signature broth, but the two of us were determined to get in on Orenchi’s at some point during our trip. The next day we returned for lunch and already there were so many people ahead of us. Most people would give up, but Kevin and I aren’t those kind of people. We waited until finally it was our turn and it was SO worth it. Orenchi’s really does have some of the best Ramen I’ve ever had. It beats every place in Seattle that I’ve tried and the only place that it rivals is a spot up in Vancouver that Kevin and I have been going to for years.

The wait isn’t for everybody, but if you look at the Yelp reviews then it’s obvious why most people do.

Proud Owner:

It’s official. I am completely obsessed with Brandy Melville. If I could purchase a piece from their store every week, I probably would, but for the sake of my bank account – I won’t do that. Before returning home this past weekend, I decided to make one last trip falling in love with their Danni Hoodie and their Caroline Cardigan (pictured below) which looks a lot better in person. Growing up, I always pieced together outfits that I liked, but weren’t always necessarily the most comfortable. I didn’t expect my style to change very much when I made the move down here, but I’m noticing more and more that it has and that I tend to gravitate towards pieces that I just want to “live in.” When you stroll through a Brandy Melville, you want to touch everything because they are made with the softest materials you’ll ever find.

This or That:

As much as I love candles and what they can do for a room or a home, I’ve never been a collector of them. If someone gifted me with candles only then would I probably decide to use them. I had to pause for a second the other day when I came across this candle on Cool Material that is scented to smell like fried chicken. Now I love my KFC, but would I want my home to smell like KFC? Ezells? That’s a very good question. I suppose if you want to feel like you’re surrounded by it without actually doing harm to your body, then this might be a suitable option for you.
