Wedding Mondays

Sometimes I have to re-watch wedding videos to remember why it is that I liked that video so much in the first place. When I first started watching this video again, I admit I was a little bit turnt off from the Philip Phillips jam, but then I remembered that I loved the little details of this wedding. Watching this video is kind of like watching a really intimate piece of their wedding – from the first dance, the super fun wedding party, the bride’s dance with the father. It didn’t feel cheesy or too contrived. It was actually really very sweet.

Christmas Wish List 2013

Comfort Food Toast Squishable – $35

I always end up making this list too close to Christmas so that by the time I list out things I could possibly want, it’s too late for my family to purchase them for me. Realistically, I don’t need any of these things for Christmas. They are merely just things that I can get for myself in the near future. We’ve actually been doing this Christmas List post for quite some time now so it wouldn’t have felt right if we didn’t have it again. I hope all of you have such a wonderful holiday. I’m off work for the week, but I’m really excited to be spending some time with Yow Yow! and prepping for our roundup posts that we do every year.

DIY Hot Cocoa Favors

On my first night back last night, I stopped by Nordstrom with Ashley to check out the Wit & Wonder pop-up shop. The area was jam-packed with gifts perfect for white elephant and secret Santa exchanges so naturally, I had to pick up something for my upcoming White Elephant. It’s getting to be that time where everyone is kind of scrambling about for Christmas shopping – a period of time that I prefer to avoid. Seattle was more crowded than usual as expected. So if you’re like me and would love to avoid that as much as possible, I definitely encourage taking the route of DIY gifts. I stumbled across this last week and am now just getting to post it. A DIY contributor from Green Wedding Shoes came up with this super cute idea to gift friends and family DIY hot cocoa mixes. How adorable is the cork stopper?!

Jeopardy Is My Favorite Show

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Jeopardy- especially when it is middle school edition. Those kids never dominate the pop culture categories and I have it basically in the bag. Kevin shared with me this video the other day of a contestant answering a question about a villain from Batman named Bain, but actually took the extra step in impersonating his voice as well. It’s so awkward, but so good at the same time. These contestants are the best.

Grimes Signs With Roc Nation

If you’ve ever found yourself at a Grimes show, then you understand that you’re in for one heck of a show. I caught Grimes I think two years ago at Capitol Hill Block Party having only known a handful of her songs back then, but found myself getting more and more into the show as the set went on. Grimes is what I can only describe as eccentric, colorful, and whimsical. Are we still using the term Manic Pixie Dream Girl? I know we use those for movies, but if we had it for the music category, she would probably take the cake.

This week it was announced that Grimes had signed to Jay Z’s label Roc Nation. Already on the roster are: Rihanna, Timbaland, Haim, MIA, Santigold, Shakira, Wale, Kylie Minogue and more. She’s in great company!

I’m excited for what is to come for the young artist in the new year.
